"I thought I could crush Hayden's media company, but instead, I got crushed myself! Hmph! I never expected him to be such a disappointment." Francis shook his head, frustration written all over his face.
These were words he could only say in front of Bianca. He would never criticize Morgan in front of outsiders.
It was all about protecting his son and ensuring that everyone saw him as the treasured heir of the Sterling family.
"Dad, I'm sorry. It's all my fault. I wasn't good enough."
Morgan lowered his head in shame, self-reproach clouding his expression. But deep inside, his hatred for Hayden only grew stronger.
He wanted to prove himself, to show that he was far superior. Yet, reality was cruel. Right now, he was nothing more than Hayden's defeated rival.
Bianca's expression darkened immediately. She moved to Morgan's side and pulled him into her embrace.
"What do you mean 'my son?' Isn't he your son too? Whether he has the ability or not depends on how you've raised him. And now, you're blaming me?
"Is that why you've come here today? To point fingers?" Her voice was cold, carrying a sharp edge.
"I…" Francis was momentarily speechless, unable to refute her words.
"Mom, don't blame Dad. This is my fault. I just wasn't capable enough.
"But maybe it's because I haven't finished school yet. Once I graduate and gain more knowledge, I'll be able to rise above everyone else! I'll make Hayden pay. I'll prove to him that I'm stronger!"
Morgan's voice was resolute, his gaze unwavering as he looked at Bianca.
"That's good! Mom believes in you. To me, you'll always be the best!" Bianca cupped his face, smiling indulgently.
Morgan was her everything. How could she ever blame him?
