"What? Not interested?" Dean's eyes widened in disbelief.
He exchanged a glance with Wade. They were both momentarily stunned.
Had they really been rejected?
An investment from the capital was something that countless people could only dream of, but they had just been turned down.
That didn't make any sense.
"You'd better think this through. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Why would you refuse?" Wade's face darkened as he spoke, his voice laced with an imposing authority that seemed to fill the entire room.
"I still have to finish college. Eventually, I'll be handing the company over to someone else to manage. As long as it runs smoothly, that's enough for me.
"I don't need it to become some massive empire. If anything, making the company public would only bring more trouble." Hayden's tone was calm, as if he found the whole conversation uninteresting.
The truth was that he had already decided to refuse. There were far too many reasons not to work with these two.
Keeping his distance from them was a matter of self-preservation.
Wade and Dean weren't just ruthless—they had money, power, and no scruples. People like that would ruin the company sooner or later.
At that moment, Wade's and Dean's expressions turned icy. Their gazes darkened, and a flicker of irritation flashed in their eyes.
When had they, members of the capital's elite, ever been turned down like this?
This brat was looking down on them!
"Mr. Hayden, I'll pretend I didn't hear that just now. Go and do some research on our family's influence. Once you've looked into that properly, come back and answer us again," Wade said with a faint smile, his sharp gaze locking onto Hayden like a blade.
"That's right. You can also ask Ms. Christina here to check for you." Dean cast a glance at Christina, clearly implying something.
Christina instinctively reached for her phone. But before she could do anything, Hayden waved a hand dismissively.
