Nathan's words, though meant as a compliment, nearly sent Cameron and Greta to an early grave.
Cameron's expression was stormy enough to make you think it might rain. "Why the sarcasm, Nathan?"
Greta, flushed with indignation, snapped back, "Who said I'm the other woman? Cameron and I have been sweethearts since we were kids... It's Nathalie who's the real interloper..."
Cameron suddenly barked at Greta, "Shut your mouth."
How could she dare dredge up the past? Their previous actions were practically a con. Cameron had no desire to revisit those foolish days.
Greta, feeling wronged after Cameron's outburst, burst into tears.
Nathan, however, was focused on Nathalie, worried she might get lost in the sadness of old memories.
Surprisingly, Nathalie's face remained calm and collected. It was as if the person Greta was talking about wasn’t even her.
Nathan let out a quiet sigh of relief.
He turned his sharp gaze to Greta, ready to punish her careless words with biting honesty. "Greta, what's there to be upset about? A woman like you, living on borrowed time, deceiving your sister and hanging onto your boyfriend just to keep going—shouldn’t you be grateful? You're so disrespectful to the people who help you, don't you think karma's got its eye on you?"
Greta cried out, "Haven't I suffered enough? I've lost my home, my husband doesn't love me, I'm broke, can't even afford my meds... and it's all Nathalie's fault."
Nathan replied, "If life’s so unbearable, why not just end it? Spare us the misery."
Greta went pale, seething with rage at Nathan.
