"The path? I’ve already cleared it for you."
"I know you're scared of being alone, so I’ve arranged for your dad to be released. He's got the best doctors now, and soon, you two will be back together. He’s your dad, after all, and I hope he can care for you and love you like I do. But if he can't, sis, don't cling to family ties. You can shine all on your own."
Nathalie was crying her heart out.
"Nathan, I don’t want anything else. I just want you. Tell me, how can I make you stay?"
"Sis, Cameron and Benjamin are here to see me fall apart. I've got my pride, too. I don't want them seeing me like this."
Nathalie went pale. "What do you want to do?"
"Bring Dominick to me."
Nathalie sensed something was off and shook her head desperately.
"Sis, I’m begging you."
Nathalie's resolve melted away.
Nathan had never asked her for anything before, and this was the last time. How could she refuse him?
"Then wait for me to come back."
"Okay."
"You have to wait for me," Nathalie said, tears in her eyes as she reached the door.
Nathan nodded. "Go on."
He had never lied to her, so she believed him.
Nathalie left the bedroom, her grief-stricken face quickly replaced with a stoic mask. She first headed to her personal wardrobe to apply a simple, natural look, then gracefully made her way downstairs.
Greta and Miranda were sprawled on the couch, fast asleep, lulled by their own drowsiness.
