As Cameron and Benjamin got to the door, Lizzy was coming up with Greta and her mom trailing behind. Instead of walking Greta to the door herself, Lizzy veered off toward the Maple House where Nina was staying.
Greta and her mom's faces were a mess of healing scars from Nathalie's attack, leaving blotches of white, black, and purplish-red that made for a pretty unsettling sight. Yet Greta, spotting Cameron, couldn't resist turning on the charm: "Cameron, you finally came to get me?"
As she spoke, her facial muscles contorted, making her look even more bizarre.
Benjamin, unable to hold back, quipped, "Greta, maybe think about wearing a veil. We don't want you scaring folks off."
Only then did Greta realize her allure had waned. She looked at Cameron, uneasy. "Cameron, it's all Nathalie's doing. She blamed me for Nathan's death and attacked me. Please, don't hold it against me." She whimpered pitifully.
Cameron, keeping a shred of decency, replied, "I know. I'll make sure you get the best doctors. You'll be back to your old self in no time."
Greta lit up with joy.
Miranda seized the moment to push Cameron. "Cameron, Greta's done so much for you. You can't let her down. Focus on living well together and don't even think about divorce."
Cameron's face was serious, not a hint of happiness.
His silence made Greta uneasy.
Soon enough, Lizzy showed up with Nina.
Nina's eyes were red as she dashed to Cameron, collapsing into his arms, sobbing uncontrollably. "Daddy."
