Nathalie burst out laughing.

"Let's just wait and see."

She stood up, her smile loaded with meaning. "Back in the day, whenever you were under the weather, even if Cameron was juggling a million things, he'd drop everything to be by your side. But now? You're seriously ill, and all he did was drop you at the hospital and disappear."

"Greta, love can fade away."

Greta's face turned paler by the moment.

"What do you want to know about Nathan?" she finally gave in.

Nathalie settled back into the hospital chair, her curiosity piqued. "Since you know who Nathan is, do you happen to know who's pulling the strings behind him?"

Greta shot her a mocking look. "That person's like a god, capable of changing the whole game with a snap of their fingers. Everybody in the big four families is scared stiff of him. You, of all people, shouldn't even dream of getting involved with him."

Nathalie felt a spark of satisfaction. "So, you do know who he is?"

"Of course I do. He's Benjamin's brother. Jaime's cousin."

"So, where is he?" Nathalie finally laid her cards on the table.

But Greta stayed silent.

What was she really after? To bring Nathan back to life? Or to find out who this mysterious puppet master was, the one who had stirred up her life with a touch of sweetness?

Greta said, "He's such a big shot; even the top dogs in politics worship him. There's no way someone like me could ever hope to reach him. I genuinely have no clue where he is."

"Still, he got Nathan to shake up the foundations of the big four families, and they're not going to forgive him easily. This whole cat-and-mouse game is bound to end in a mess for everyone. If you can't track him down, it probably means he's already lost."

Nathalie stared at Greta. "And what happens if he loses?"
