Lizzy was puzzled. "Sis, didn't the Rowland family already wave the white flag and decide to partner up with you?" Lizzy couldn't figure out why her sister would have any dealings with the Rowland family beyond business.

Nathalie replied, "I'm looking into an old issue with the Rowlands."

"Oh." Lizzy hit the gas and sped off.

When Nathalie got to the Rowland estate, the guard stopped her as part of his routine, "Ms. Ashley, let me announce your arrival."

Nathalie, bold and defiant, said, "No need for that. I can find my own way in. It's not like it's my first time here."

With that, she walked in confidently. The guard, taken aback by her boldness, quickly reached for his phone to alert his employer.

Inside the Rowland estate's brightly lit living room, Mason and Gavin sat on the sofa, their faces dark and displeased as they glared at her.

"Ashley, seems like your career's on the rise, and so is your arrogance," Gavin said sarcastically.

Nathalie, fierce like a lioness, glared back with fiery eyes, her fury palpable. "I'm not here to talk business today. So, no need for the fake niceties."

"Then what are you here for?" Mason asked coolly.

"Ashley, the Rowland family business is none of your concern."

Nathalie propped her feet up on the footstool, making it clear she planned to stay a while. She glanced at Gavin, ignoring his angry outburst. She zeroed in on her goal: "Nathan's matters are my matters."

"Mr. Gavin, I'm here to find out how Nathan got those awful scars."

Gavin's guilt was evident. His eyes darted around. "Those scars, he's had them since he was a kid."

"That story might work on someone else, but not me. When he came home, he already had three lash marks on his back, a fractured ankle, and a minor eye injury. So how did he end up with even more scars after coming back home?"
