Chapter 217 Bullying on Campus
As Kate
watched the video on her computer, her eyebrows shot up. She was focusing on what was playing, all while the comments section exploded with harsh words, making the whole thing feel
even more intense.
Her phone started going off non–stop, and a call from her assistant came through. She could immediately pick up on the urgency in her assistant’s voice when she answered. “Mr. Lowe, there’s some fresh gossip making the rounds online. We’re all hands–on deck for some damage control, but we need to know–is that video for real? Did you actually…”
Her assistant trailed off, unable to get the whole question out.
Keeping calm, Kate replied, “Yep, that video’s legit.”
There was silence from her assistant after that. She was totally taken aback and struggling to wrap her mind around it.
Did Kate really bully someone back in college?
“The clip’s legit, but someone messed with it.”
Kate’s even tone helped her assistant feel less worried.
Looks like the video’s been tampered with. It could be a big misunderstanding.
After a moment, Kate said, “Let’s shut the studio down for now. I’ll take care of talking to the press. Don’t sweat it.”
The assistant got the message and carefully ended the conversation.
“Ric, you think Simon’s playing games here?”
While lounging next to Eric, Kate scrolled through the video on her laptop and casually slung an arm around him.
Eric pays close attention to how Kate looks when she talks about Simon, but her expression doesn’t change. Feeling curious, he quirked an eyebrow and asked, “Why’s that?”
Kate laughed and hit play on the video again, saying, “This whole thing happened back in my junior year. I caught this girl picking on someone else and stepped in to sort it out.”
You could see she was getting a bit lost in the memories.
Back at university, when she used to bump into Ruth and Simon, she wasn’t as tight with Simon as she is now. Known for being bold and not afraid to speak her mind, she didn’t hesitate to take the bullying situation into her own hands.
“Even though someone edited that video, I’ve got the uncut version right here.” Kate looked really

Eric sat on the couch, watching quietly as Kate signed into her account and pulled up a different
video.
This new video showed the same stuff Simon did. Still, it went further, showing the girl Kate had to deal with for picking on another student. At the end of it, you see the bully apologising, with Kate giving her that look.
Meanwhile, the internet was starting to pick sides.
Over at Sadler Group, Lana couldn’t hide her glee as she went through the tweets about the video Simon had leaked. She wasted no time telling her team to launch a campaign to tarnish Kate’s reputation.
“As a former student at Capital University, I’ve always heard about Ms. Kate’s reputation during my time there. She’s known for using her influence in pretty upsetting ways.”
“I actually know the girl who was assaulted. She’s typically a very gentle and kind person. Still, she was hit by Ms. Lowe just for bumping into her by accident. And it sounds like she’s not the only one who’s had a bad experience with Ms. Lowe. Unfortunately, Ms. Lowe’s family has a lot of power and resources, and they’ve managed to keep these stories quiet.”
“I’ve always been wary of Kate but never thought she’d go this far.”
“With all that’s happened, you’ve got to wonder if someone like Kate should be in the design industry. Is it right for her to run a studio and show off her work? It may be time for her to step back and stop casting a shadow over our community.”
