Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled novel Chapter 262

Faith caught on to the weird vibe between Kitty and me and started eyeing Kitty like a hawk.

Any woman who could walk straight into Neil's house must be something else.

Kitty had dyed her hair brown, which made her look more docile and gentler. Her nose and lip piercings were gone, but the row of earrings on her ears were still there, adding a dash of rebellion to her otherwise soft demeanor.

I knew exactly what kind of daughter-in-law Ryan and Faith were looking for. They preferred a girl who was well-read, generous, simple yet elegant, and full of noble air.

They definitely wouldn’t like the row of earrings on Kitty's ears. And they still didn't know about Kitty's background.

“Neil, who is this?" Even though Faith might not like Kitty's look, she still managed to keep her tone soft.

“A friend.” Neil responded curtly, almost coldly.

Kitty quickly got her act together. She beamed at us, "Hello! I'm Neil's friend. Just call me Kitty. I heard from Neil that it's his mom's birthday today, so I brought a gift."

She walked up to Faith and handed her a birthday present. It was a transparent, delicate box containing a beautiful red crystal ring. Judging from the quality, it definitely wasn't cheap.

As expected, Faith's eyes lit up when she saw the gift. She showered praise on the ring, and Kitty seemed to relax a bit.

But the next second, Faith returned the gift to Kitty, "I can't accept such an expensive present. Kitty, why don't you stay and have dinner with us?"

Kitty was taken aback, and a hint of embarrassment flashed across her face. It was awkward to have a gift returned, but Faith's refusal was understandable. She couldn't possibly accept a gift this expensive from a mere friend of Neil's.

"Kitty, come sit with us," I tried to ease the awkwardness.

"Okay." Kitty nodded, placed the gift on the table, and sat down next to me.

I was friends with Kitty, and she was quite outgoing, so the atmosphere in the living room quickly lightened up.

Ryan and Faith appeared to be fine on the surface, but from time to time, they would exchange glances and size Kitty and me up.

Neil sat on the other couch, looking rather gloomy. I couldn't tell whether he was pleased or displeased with Kitty's arrival.

"Mr. Iceberg, didn't you prepare a gift for your mom?" Kitty asked Neil.

Faith was a bit surprised by this nickname and asked, "Mr. Iceberg?"

Kitty playfully stuck out her tongue, "I think Neil is too cold, so I gave him this nickname. I hope you don't mind. It's just a joke among friends."

"It's okay. I just thought the nickname was quite unique." Faith said with a smile.

Kitty seized the opportunity to praise Faith, "How can such a gentle woman like you have such a cold son? But Neil definitely got his looks from you guys. He's so handsome!"

Faith maintained her polite smile. She wasn't the kind of person who could be easily swayed by simple compliments, and she had heard plenty of them already.

Neil glared at Kitty, "Shut up!"

"We're all sitting here; it's only interesting if we chat a little, right?" Kitty turned to me with a smile.

I agreed with her, "Yes. It's always nice to have you around; we always have plenty of topics to talk about."

This was a genuine compliment. Kitty was delighted and winked at me.

Neil frowned at me, seemingly not approving of my words, but he wasn't as impatient with me.

Just then, a servant came over, "Ms. Tueley and Ms. Gloria are here, but they've been stopped by security."

"What is she doing here? Send her away!" Ryan said coldly.
