Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled novel Chapter 33

I didn't mean to look down on Bonnie. Everyone has their own way of life. Living an ordinary life is the fate of most people.

I was just lucky. My family left me a bit of wealth, giving me a slightly better financial situation than others.

But I was curious about Bonnie's life, her job, her favorite food, and her clothing style.

"This is so yummy!" Barbara wasn't a fan at first, but after a while, she started to enjoy it. After finishing a plate of sushi, she ordered yakitori.

Barbara told me if she got pregnant soon after getting married, she would choose to be a stay-at-home mom.

As for her dream of music, she might have to give it up.

"If you had your family invest some money in you, you could be a big-name singer now," I joked.

"That would be boring. If I knew I was going to win, I wouldn't want to play the game," Barbara pouted.

That made me feel a bit awkward. I felt like she was talking about me.

I knew Neil would end up with Bonnie in the end, but I was still struggling. I was such a fool.

After the meal, we did some shopping and finally went home with bags full of goodies.

I had Bailey pick me up. The Panamera was in the shop, so he drove a black Lincoln. I shoved my shopping bags into the back seat, then hopped in the front passenger seat, "go home!"

Ada was very considerate. When I got home, she had already got ten prescriptions from her relatives and neatly placed them on the table.

"Ma'am, just boil these herbs into a soup and drink it twice a day," Ada said.

"Thank you, Ada. How much do I owe you?" I reached for my wallet.

"No need, ma'am. I broke your skincare products last time and didn't compensate you. Consider this my payback," Ada waved it off.

I didn't insist, just thanked her again.

Somehow, Faith managed to get Neil to come back that night. The moment he walked in the door, he dropped his coat, exuding a chill.

I quietly ate my dinner, pretending not to see him.

After Neil went upstairs, Ada brought the herbal soup and asked, "Ma'am, should I take it up, or..."

I elegantly wiped the corner of my mouth, "I'll do it."

I carried the soup upstairs to the guest room. Neil must be taking a shower. The sound of water splashing came from the bathroom.

His phone on the table lit up. I took a peek, it was a stock market push notification. His lock screen was a girl's back view. She was wearing a sky-blue cotton dress, her ponytail shining under the sun.

I recognized Bonnie's back instantly.

After the screen went off, I pressed it again to keep looking at the picture. Not until the sound of water stopped and the door opened did I hastily avert my eyes.

"Why are you here?" Seeing me, Neil asked indifferently.

His hair was wet, a few strands hanging between his brows, making him look very refreshing, as if he was several years younger. His black short-sleeve pajamas and pants made the lines of his shoulders and chest very clear.

I was a bit jealous of Bonnie.

"Drink this." I gently pushed the bowl of herbal soup on the table.

"No." Neil replied in resignation.

I didn't expect Neil to come looking for me at this time. This was really unusual. I could only pray that he didn't know what I was holding in my hand.

"What is that?" Neil walked straight to my bed, trying to take the item from my hand.

I quickly hid it under the blanket, my face stiff, "What are you doing here? Don't you know you should knock?"

Neil stood beside the bed. I could feel the warmth from his body. His eyes were a bit red and his gaze was strange.

"What is it exactly?" Neil insisted. He bent over and reached into the blanket, trying to snatch it again.

I had never been this close to him before. This situation made me feel like he really wanted to take my thing.

"This is my personal stuff, none of your business! Neil, get back to your room and sleep!" I shouted angrily.

Neil rudely pulled off my blanket. Me and my pink pajama bottoms, which had slipped down to my knees, were all exposed to him.

Neil looked at me. A few seconds later, his gaze became more ardent.

I thought he would mock me and then walk away, as this was his favorite and best thing to do. But things didn't go as I expected.

Neil grabbed my hand that was trying to pull up my pajama bottoms, then he leaned over and kissed my lips fiercely. I immediately felt breathless.

I pushed Neil away, "Are you sick? Why are you so hot!"

He's seriously on fire, so hot that it feels like you're gonna get burned. I wonder if he's lost his marbles due to high fever, that's why he's acting so out of control.

Neil's voice is kind of hoarse. He said, "Well, don’t you know what kind of medicine you served me?"
