Astrid’s POV
My brows furrowed, a question mark etched on the crease of my forehead as I observed Killian carefully like I was trying to decipher a cryptic message.
‘Killian, what is this that you’re playing exactly?’ I thought to myself as I tried to see through him.
The Killian that I know wouldn’t tolerate any provocation from me. I still remember, when we were still married, Killian had no trust in me.
When Giselle faked a fall on the staircase, he instantly accused me of pushing Giselle, and he was so angry at me. To him, Giselle’s words were enough to prove me guilty.
Every time that Giselle was put in danger, he always blamed me for scheming to kill his mistress and their baby.
He treats me like a villain instead of his wife. He sees me as a bad person who could take someone’s life. He loves Giselle in the same way that he hates me.
I can still remember that day when Killian kept me from meeting my grandmother before she died. Because of him, I was unable to speak to my grandmother before she breathed out her last breath.
I forced a smile on my face to unnerve them. “The Silvermoon Pack is lucky to have a sensible Alpha to compensate for their impulsive Luna. That attitude of hers is really dangerous, it can bring destruction to your Pack,” I added, humiliating Giselle deliberately.
Killian loves Giselle so much. He can’t control himself when Giselle is the one that is being attacked. When it comes to her, he never holds himself back to protect her.
I want Killian to show that same anger he had shown to me many years ago whenever Giselle was preyed upon.
I want him to fight me, to show his true colors and show everybody what kind of monster he could become. I want him to make a mistake so I could have something I could use against him.
“I appreciate your concern for the Silvermoon Pack. We are all working together to ensure everyone’s safety. We are always learning and growing, and we are confident in our ability to overcome any challenges together. We will keep your words in mind,” Killian answered calmly and respectfully, with his head still lowered in surrender.
I fell speechless, not expecting that even that didn’t stir his anger. Where is the Killian that I knew?
Where is that Killian who always took Giselle’s side unquestioningly and believed every word that would come out of her mouth? Where is that Killian who doesn’t stop until he brings Giselle justice? Where is that Killian who saw me unworthy of his respect?
I refuse to believe that person is gone. Killian must be hiding his true nature beneath that sheepskin he’s showing.
“How could that be?” Daphne asked as she followed behind me. “Aside from that woman the Alpha and his son looked so kind.”
I swallowed hard when I heard Daphne’s words. I actually liked the child before I found out that he was Killian and Giselle’s son.
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. For sure, that child would be as evil as his own parents. There’s no doubt about that.
“Appearances could be deceiving, Daphne. All children looked cute, sweet, and adorable, but they will all grow like their parents,” I answered as I tried to forget all about their son.
I must remember my own son, my son who was never given the chance to see the world. My son was robbed of everything he had.
I cannot show mercy to the child who took away everything that my son should have had. My son should have been the future Alpha of the Silvermoon Pack. He should have been in Ryker’s position.
Ryker stole my son’s place. He is living the life that my son should have.
Now that I’ve chosen this path, I shouldn’t turn back or hold myself back. I must continue with the plan that I have.
