Asher was sprawled out on the beanbag that Kathy cherished the most, which made Kathy inwardly cringe. ‘If it weren’t for the fact that Asher is my boss, I’d have kicked him out of here long ago, she thought to herself. 

Asher detected the jest in Kathy’s tone at once. He pretended not to hear it. “What’s up? Are you getting tired of me now?” 

Kathy chuckled. “You’re my boss. How could I possibly tire of you? I’m just concerned that someone else might be. You keep hanging around her for no reason. What if people find out or discover something?” 

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Asher said grumpily, glaring at Kathy. “Don’t make things up.” 

Kathy had always been good at reading people, and she didn’t think she was mistaken this time. So even if Asher denied it, she didn’t really intend to expose him. She knew that Asher certainly wouldn’t admit it in front of her. 

“Whether I’m making things up or not, you know best in your heart. We’ve all grown up together as friends. I just hope you understand not to do anything you’ll regret,” Kathy said meaningfully, casting a glance at the silent Asher, believing he truly understood her message. 

“Boring.” Asher felt as if someone had discovered his secret. Staying here any longer made him uncomfortable all over, so he decided to make a quick exit. Before leaving, he added, staring at Kathy, “Women really do have a vivid imagination.” 

Kathy gave him a gentle smile, and Asher continued, “This is completely like I’ve hired a queen to take care of. 

“To be precise, it’s two queens.” Kathy’s implication was clear. The other was undoubtedly Julia. Asher smiled. “Indeed, I’m so idle that I’ve hired two queens for myself. I even suspect that you deliberately recruited Julia to the company because you knew about her.” 

Kathy squinted her eyes slightly, her smile radiating a subtle menace. Asher was outplayed. Every time he saw Kathy with that sly expression, he worried that she would plot against him behind his back. 

Kathy seemed gentle on the surface, but she was full of mischief Asher often took the fall for her in their childhood because Kathy had a knack for winning over the elders. As a child, Kathy was sweet–talking, the epitome of the ideal kid next door. 

Asher, on the other hand, was the quintessential troublemaker, surviving in the cracks. Both Harry and Kathy were the golden children. 

After leaving Kathy’s office, Asher bumped into Julia by chance. They exchanged glances, and Julia, understanding the unspoken message, greeted Asher. “Hi, Mr. Cooper!” Thinking of unrequited love, Julia couldn’t help but feel sorry for Asher, her expression betraying a look of sympathy. 

Asher stood there, bewildered. As Julia walked away, he still didn’t quite understand why Julia looked at him with pity. He didn’t think he was that pitiable. 

Julia placed the printed materials on Valerie’s desk who was engrossed in the sweet exchanges with her boyfriend via WhatsApp, barely glanced at them and ignored Julia. 

After hesitating for a moment, Julia pulled out a chair and sat down. Seeing that Valerie still had no intention of acknowledging her, she sighed quietly and then messaged Harry 

Julia: [It seems Asher’s love life is doomed to fail.] 

Harry was takerr aback by the message, then realized what he had told Julia. He was in the middle of a meeting and had a client to meet later, yet here he was, chatting with Julia on his phone. Alden, who was following behind, saw this and couldn’t help but show a look of relief. 

Only when Harry’s life was going well would their lives be easier
