Chapter 115
KAIDEN STIRLING
I woke up to someone knocking on the door. I let out a groan and rolled over in my bed before I let out a huff. I opened my eyes and my pretty daughter’s face was in my view. She was still asleep. Her lips were parted and strands of her blonde hair were in her face. A smile touched my face and I leant forward and kissed her forehead.
I was about to attempt waking her up when the knock came again, reminding me that someone was at the door and I had been woken up by the person for a reason. I yawned and climbed out of the bed, heading for the door. I unlocked it and pulled it open. A maid was standing there and she seemed scared. She was new here, else I would have seen her face around. “Yes?” I spoke and she winced. I was suddenly aware of my morning breath.
Shit.
“Good morning, Alpha,” she said with a bowed head. “I need to get Harper ready for school. The party at her school will begin soon,” she said and the whole reason I had been upset and locked myself up in my room the whole day came back to me.
It was about this d**n party. F**k.
“Give me a few,” I said and she nodded. I left the door open and walked back to the bed. I gently lifted Harper from the middle of the bed and lifted her to the edge. “Harper,” I called and she

stirred, letting out a small huff of air. I smiled. She did not like her sleep being interrupted, and she had slept late because we had talked late into the night about her friends and her favorite teacher, the one I had met the day I first heard about the party.
“Princess, you need to wake up.” smoothed her hair and gently tapped on her cheeks. “No,” she groaned and I laughed. “You have to, princess. You’ll miss the party.” She said and sighed in complaint. She yawned and opened her pretty brown eyes. I smiled at her and she smiled back.
“Good morning, daddy,” she said, lifting her head off my large hands. “Morning princess,” I said, cradling her face and kissing her forehead. “Morning breath!” She exclaimed and laughed. I laughed too. “Go get ready. She’s waiting to help you get ready,” I said and pointed towards the door. The maid was peeping in and Harper smiled at her on sighting her.
Her cheeks went red and Harper looked at me. “I think she’s shy,” Harper whispered. “Yeah?” I asked, looking towards the maid with a thoughtful expression on my face. “Uh-huh,” she nodded and hopped down from the bed. “I’ll tease her a bit,” Harper said with a mischievous smile in her face and I nodded. “Don’t do too much, princess,” I cautioned her and she smiled at me before attempting to wink. She ‘winked’ with both of her
eyes.
“I’ll be back, daddy,” she announced and walked out of the door, shutting it behind her.
I stared at the door for a few minutes and let out a sigh. I felt like s***it because I was going to be disappointing my little princess. She had been excited for this party and I knew it was mostly because Francisco and I were coming. Now I was going

to take that joy from her.
only hope was that Francisco would go. Of course he would, he already had his mother (who was a big pain in the f**g a**when she wanted to be) and someone who was ready to be his father, up to the point of taking a slap from me.
Now that I was thinking about it, me slapping him was incredibly s**d. It was foolish, s*d a*nd all kinds of dumb. I had allowed my feelings to control me. I hated that Freda had affected me to that point, but I deserved it. I got up from my bed, refusing to think about how angry it made me–the thought that Freda would actually allow that human to go to the party as my son’s father.
I want into the bathroom and stood in front of the mirror. I did not look like s**t the way I had expected. I always seemed to forget that I was an alpha wolf, so even something as little as darkness under my eyes from a sleepless night and stress would clear overnight. “F**g a**hole,” I said under my breath.
“You better not be referring to me,” Kai, my wolf said in return and I shut him out of my head.
I was only able to finish brushing my teeth before a knock came on the door. I looked at the clock. I had taken thirty minutes. Well s**t…
I unlocked the door, half expecting Safiya to be standing there about to throw a tantrum. It was the maid from earlier, and my little princess dressed like a princess. She looked at me with a frown. She was wondering why I wasn’t dressed yet. “Why aren’t you ready yet?” She asked and I almost smiled, knowing I had guessed right.

“I’m not coming, princess. I’m feeling a little down, so I won’t be able to make it.” I said and the frown on her lips deepened. Her lip quivered. She looked like she was going to cry. Oh shoot…
“Princess… Wow, all you had to do was look at me with your gorgeous eyes and I’m fine now!” I said and grinned at her. Her teary eyes dried immediately. “Yeah?” She smiled and I nodded. “You go ahead. I’ll be there soon,” I said.
“Promise?” She asked, holding out her pinky finger. “Promise,” I said, linking my finger with hers.
