Chapter 29
FRIEDA WHITLOCK
Fransisco had gotten so used to Lyra’s company that he didn’t have time to hang out with me anymore. I was jealous.
Was I?
Not even at the tiniest bit. Rather, I was happy he was loving his new home. It was the weekend, and Lyra had helped him with his homework so that they could hang out the whole day. They left for the park already leaving me at home. Lyra said I needed some time to myself and she was right. I don’t know what I would do without her or how much of a mess it would have been if she weren’t around.
After making sure Dad was settled and needed nothing else, I decided to tour the pack. Things hadn’t changed much but there were definitely changes. I rode around town with no aim in mind. An hour later, I found myself parked before my former apartment. Fransisco and I stayed here for just two days before moving back with Dad and Lyra.
I walked into the house and headed to the kitchen area smiling mildly at the memories that flooded my mind of Cisco whining for bread while holding onto my feet. I stood in the kitchen for a while and when I decided to leave, I felt like someone else was
present.
My mind began to race as I tiptoed around the kitchen area with eyes gaping around to catch sight of who the evader was.

Maybe I was overthinking things. My skin was covered with goosebumps and a feeling of dread knotted my stomach. This was bad.
What if there really was someone here, what would I do? I could confront whoever it was.
Or maybe leave…
The latter seemed like the best option for me. I wouldn’t risk my life now, there were bigger tasks ahead of me, I knew. Perhaps this was one of them.
I shuddered dreadfully as I headed toward the door with hurried yet quiet steps. When I got to the door, I thought it was locked but ignored it and tried to open it… But it wouldn’t open
What the absolute heck?
I had used this same door to get in so how come it was now locked and where on earth was the key I had left on the lock? I wondered staring around with my heart thudding fiercely against my ribcage. Oh G**d!
I trieu opening the door again and got the same result.
“Why won’t it open?” I snapped out of frustration, twisting the **b with all my might. However, no matter how hard I tried, the lock wouldn’t budge. I was trapped inside.
My mind raced with many unhinged thoughts as I struggled to pull the door apart. However, that was not even what I should be doing since I had no wolf. It surprised me that even now that I was in danger, Gia hadn’t surfaced to help me out.

Was she that mad at me?
I heard a sound behind me like a collision and turned quickly to see what it was. Shock filled my features when I saw Kaiden standing across the room and before I could register his presence, he was before me.
“What the heck, Kaiden!” I yelled, startled at his sudden
approach. And angry that out of all people to break in, he had to be the one.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry I startled you Freda” His voice was soft as he reached out to touch my arm but I shrugged him off, furiously.
‘Get your hands off me!”
With a hint of resignation in his eyes, he dropped his hand, taking a few steps backwards. I appreciated the distance. I would have appreciated it more if he just left. His presence made me mad, mostly at myself because for some reason my knees were wobbly whenever he was around.
After calming my nerves, I looked at the door and then back at him, “Are you the one who locked the door?”
There couldn’t possibly be anyone else apart from him who was capable of doing that. He was an Alpha, he could be that fast to get in here and lock the door, unnoticed. However, what bothered me was how come he knew I was there. Was he stalking me?
I stared at him with intent, squinting my eyes when I saw his lips stretch to form a smile. Why was he smiling? Did he find my question or even my state amusing?

“Yes,” He answered leisurely and my face twisted to a frown
“Open it”
“No, I won’t,” He said, sounding like a kid throwing a tantrum.
“Seriously? What the f**k do you want from me?” I asked him annoyed that he was finding this situation to be a joke. I saw his eyes flash and my fear heightened, that was Kai and if 1
remembered clearly, his wolf didn’t like it when someone stepped on his ego.
I became self-conscious when he started taking slow steps towards me and subconsciously, I took steps back to maintain the distance. However, before I could take another step, he had covered the distance with two strides, held my shoulders, and trapped me against the wall. The swift action left me in a daze. When I got. my senses back, my lips parted to speak but not a word came out. I could only glare at him while desperately fighting the tingling sensation beneath my skin, courtesy of his touch, hoping I didn’t turn red before him or get lost in his deep eyes which had suddenly darkened with something I couldn’t explain.
I balled my fists by my sides as I tried to suppress whatever weird reaction my body felt from the closeness. This was wrong yet why was I finding it difficult to resist?
He brought his face closer to mine and my heart s**d a beat when his minty breath filled my face as his husky voice sounded, “I want to talk to you Freda and we won’t be leaving till I do that”
