Chapter 53
KAIDEN STIRLING
I stormed to the room that Safiya and I had shared at the beginning of our marriage. She was the only one that stayed there now most times.
“Safiya,” I knocked on her door. She didn’t answer. “Safiya,” I called again. I placed my ear against the door and heard shuffling sounds inside. She was awake and she was inside.
“I know you’re inside there. Answer me, Safiya,” I fumed, holding myself back from smashing my fist against the door angrily. “Go away,” she said and her voice seemed broken, like she had been crying.
I sighed and ran my hand through my hair with frustration. After what I had done… More like almost done to her, I was not supposed to be yelling at her or actually this way. I was supposed to be apologizing, but she was making everything so **n hard. She was insistent on ruining my day, for some d**n
reason.
“Safiya, we have to talk, please,” I said and she yelled from the other side. “Go away! I don’t want to see you. How hard is that for you to understand?” She yelled.
“This is not about you wanting to see me or not. We have to talk.”
I was convinced she wanted to ruin my life. I would not really

have minded if it was just about her life, but the life of my unborn baby was involved, and so was Harper’s.

“Safiya?” I called when she said nothing. She didn’t reply. My patience had been stretched thin and I could not take any more.
“Safiya!” I said, hitting my fist against the door. She started crying at the other side and I thought I was going to go mad. She was not allowed to cry. Why the hell was she crying when she was the one ruining things?
She had caused those rumors to fly around and now that I needed to talk to her about what she had done and how I needed her to talk to the werewolf council, she was refusing to talk to me.
She gave me no choice. I was going to have to use the Alpha tone on her, because whether anyone believed or not, it was a matter of urgency.
I started to speak when I heard the lock mechanisms in the door begin to work to unlock the door.
She pulled the door open five seconds later and I was greeted with a puffy eyed, red eyed, red faced mess with tear streaks in her face.
I immediately felt bad. But I knew she was definitely trying to guilt trip me.
“I need you to speak to the Council,” I went straight to the point. “Tell them the truth. I have never hit you and I have never even tried,” I said breathlessly. “Please Safiya,” I pleaded.
She was silent for a second and then before I knew it, she was

shaking her head. “No.” She simply said, trying to shut the door again. “What?” I asked with exasperation. “I said no!” She yelled. and aggressively pushed the door. I stopped it with little effort and the walked into the room.
She stared at me with anger and hatred in her eyes and I did not know if I should be surprised that her and her sister had the
same look when they were angry at someone.
“I know you’re doing this intentionally,” I said, lowering my voice to a pleading tone despite wanting to match the way she was yelling at me.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she said, looking away from me and wiping her face. “I just need to tell them that it’s not true,” I whispered.
“I am not feeling well enough to do that. You want…e to go there looking like this? It’s your fault I look like this. No surprise you’d want people to see me looking like s**t,” she aggressively said and I took a deep breath.
“I’m sorry,” I said quietly and surprise flashed through her eyes before she looked away again. “I’m sorry for yelling at you, for almost hitting you. I’m sorry for scaring you. I really am. You just frustrate me so much. You get on my last nerves and it drives me crazy,” I lamented.
Her lips spread apart and she looked furious again. I realized my mistake too late.
“Are you apologizing or you’re insulting me?” she asked, her voice taking a loud pitch. I groaned and buried my face in my hands.

“I’m sorry,” I sighed. “No you’re not,” she fiercely replied and I could not help but wonder where all the aggression was coming from. “You know what you are, though? You’re a jerk. A big, fat, dumb jerk. I loathe you!” She yelled and I started to grow angry again.
Goddess. Give. Me. Patience.
F**g hell…
“Safiya…” I called her name but she cut me off. “Don’t call me. You’ve made my life miserable.”
“What?” I asked with irritation and utter exhaustion. I was tired of this back and forth with her. She was driving me nuts.
“Did you plan what happened this morning? You deliberately provoked me in front of everyone. It came out of nowhere and you knew I would attempt hitting you,” I said, stating all the things that had come together in my head. I just wanted her to tell me the truth.
“I’m talking about how miserable you’ve made me and you’re accusing me? I do not even know what you’re talking about!” She yelled, feigning ignorance.
“I know what you’re doing,” she said, taking a step towards me with a wild look in her eyes. “You’re trying to find good reason to leave me, aren’t you? This is about Freda. You’re always choosing her over me!” She yelled and started to cry.
Anyone who was hearing her voice from the outside would probably assume she was having a m** breakdown. Maybe she was.

Because even’I was horrified at the way she turned everything
on me.
I was about to speak when my phone rang. I was going to ignore it, but I needed a break from Safiya. “Hello?” I spoke into the mouthpiece and the next words I heard froze me with shock.
