Chapter 56
FREDA WHITLOCK
I couldn’t believe my ears at the accusation pointed against my son. “Keep quiet, do you even know the weight of what you’re saying?” I asked the little kid who claimed to have seen my dear Cisco push Harper down the stairs.
“My son would never harm a fly, not to mention Harper of all people. They are good friends. Friends don’t do that to each other”. I stated as I glared at the kid who dared to accuse my
son.
“I’m not lying ma’am, I did see your son push Harper down the stairs”. The kid insisted and my scowl deepened. “You’re lying” I accused. “My son would never do that to Harper’
“He did, ma’am” he insisted and he turned to Cisco’s class teacher, Mrs Campbell. “Mrs Campbell, Cisco really pushed Harper down the stairs. I’m not lying”. The kid kept insisting that Cisco was at fault but I didn’t believe a single word he uttered.
Miss Campbell noticing the tension the child’s accusation was bringing had to intervene. “Steve dear, you may leave now, your observation has been duly noted” she stated. And the boy left but not after sending a serious glare in Cisco’s direction.
I couldn’t believe my ears, ‘why did all these people think Cisco was the one at fault?’ The kid was so gentle and kind. There was some conspiracy I couldn’t understand going on here. Was it a coincidence that the two kids got injured at the same time?
I was still in my thoughts when Safiya resumed her yelling. “That child clearly saw what happened, Cisco pushed my dear Harper down the stairs” she yelled angrily as she strode in front of me.
She raised her finger at me as she threatened. “If anything happens to my daughter Harper, I’m going to make you pay”. She glared at me menacingly and I was too stunned to speak. It took a while before I could recollect myself to form a reply.
“My son didn’t harm Harper, it seemed like you didn’t catch that earlier when I said it”. I stated for the umpteenth time. I don’t know what issue Safiya had with me, but she seemed bent on making my life miserable.
“Oh, what do I even expect from a mother who goes behind seducing other people’s husbands. I shouldn’t expect less from her son”. She scoffed as she crossed her arms.
I was beyond mortified as Safiya uttered that stament. Miss Campbell who had been listening to the conversation coughed uncomfortably behind me.
“Safiya, that’s enough. You’ve said enough for one day. Freda is your sister for crying out loud. Be considerate in your accusations” he stated firmly.
“I will not” she yelled. “Not until she publicly apologizes for her son trying to murder my daughter”. “Apologize?’,she was clearly joking I couldn’t take the insults anymore and I retorted back.
“I will not apologize for anything, because my son did not push your daughter down the stairs. You have gone too far with this Safiya. I am only being considerate because of your state. But don’t you dare forget that I am still your older sister. So show mo como respect”.
For a second, Safiya seemed shocked by my bo
quickly recovered. “Or what Freda? What will you do? Will you murder my unborn child too just like you tried to murder daughter?” She asked as she closed the distance between us, her eyes challenging me.
“Who knows? Maybe you sent your son to push my daughter down the stairs, because you claim he isn’t guilty but what if he was coerced into doing it. You know what I think Freda, I think you’re the real culprit here. A murderer”. She stated as she emphasized the last word.
“Enough, Safiya. If you say one more word. You would not like the result from it”. Kaiden bellowed in a loud voice and with an aura that had everyone silent within minutes.
Just then, the doctors walked in and that immediately occupied everyone’s attention as we rushed over to them. “Hello, I’m Doctor Russell and here beside me is Doctor Marcus, we are here to examine the children” he stated
“Of course, please do so Kaiden spoke on behalf of all of us”. We quickly made way for them to pass and they examined the kids and took notes. Unable to hide my anxiety, I asked. “What does the report say, will the children be okay?” I asked
anxiously.
Dr Russell took a deep breath and sighed. “The boy is fine, he only sustained a mild concussion so he’ll wake up soon”. And I heaved a heavy breath of relief.
“What about my daughter?” Safiya asked curiously. “The girl had some serious injuries so it might take a day for her to regain consciousness. We still have to run some tests”. The doctor disclosed “Please excuse me” he stated and walked out with

the other doctor.
Safiya slumped to the ground but Kaiden was quick to hold her. My heart twisted in pain that he still loved her but I pushed those feelings away.
Safiya was quick to regain herself as she suddenly rushed in front of me. Her eyes blazing in anger. “You did this” she
accused. “This was all your master plan so you can take Kaiden away from me”.
“Safiya” Kaiden warned in a harsh tone. “I’ve told you it’s
enough. Freda is just as worried about the kids just as you are. Her son was also injured”. He stated.
“But he’s going to wake up soon but my daughter might ke up tomorrow. It’s still under probability” she yelled as she pounded Kaiden’s chest with her fists as Kaiden tried desperately to restrain her.
She freed herself from his grip as she stared deep into his eyes. “Kaiden you tell me, what is your role here?. Why are you supporting Freda instead of me? It’s our daughter’s life that is at stake. You should be on my side. That kid even said he saw Cisco do it, so why?” she asked with tearful eyes.
Kaiden kept silent but the answer was clear. Devastated, Safiya s**d her bag from the chair and stormed out in anger.
