Chapter 63
FREDA WHITLOCK
It was time for lunch. “Cisco dear I called out as I finished setting the table with the help of Lyra. “Come down for lunch honey”. Few minutes later, Cisco came to join us at the table.
My heart twisted in pain at how miserable my son looked. The past few days must have been so hard on him. With Safiya constantly accusing him of trying to kill Harper.
The poor kid was overwhelmed. He had been so quiet …ese days and he wouldn’t speak about what happened with Harper and I was almost tempted to ask him.
A quick glance to Lyra stopped me as she shook her head sensing what I was about to do. I nodded, ‘I’ll give him more time to collect his thoughts, he would tell me when he’s ready’. The last thing I wanted was him thinking we thought he was guilty.
I casted a grateful look at Lyra, she had been so helpful these past few days, I didn’t know what I’ would have done without her in my life. She even had the guts to stand up to Safiya and Kaiden. I was in awe of her courage.
My mind drifted off to Safiya, I was angry that she thought Cisco was responsible for Harper’s accident. I mean Cisco was injured too. But then, I really couldn’t blame her any mother would be worried but she was taking it too far

I decided to blame it on her hormones. It must be the stress of her pregnancy or Georgina’s manipulations. That woman was bent on ruining my life.
She even had the audacity to come to the hospital to accuse my son. If not for Kaiden’s quick interruption, she would have created a big scene that day. The look on her face when Kaiden asked her to leave was priceless!
I glanced at Cisco again who barely touched his food. Infact, none of us had started eating yet. We were all so occupied by our thoughts. “Okay everyone” I stated with a laugh trying to lighten the mood. “Let’s not just stare at the food. It’s meant to be eaten”. I joked and Lyra gave me a small smile as she started eating.
“I didn’t push Harper down the stairs”. Cisco’s unexpected loud voice boomed in the room making all of us drop our spoons. I looked at Lyra and she was just as shocked by his outburst as I was. ‘Oh my poor baby’ I thought. He must have felt the atmosphere in the room and probably thought we deemed him guilty.
“I didn’t push Harper” he stated more softly this time as tears rolled down his cheeks. “I-I was only trying to help”. “Oh honey” I stated as I scooped him up and placed him on my lap.
“Nobody thinks you pushed Harper. We were only worried because you haven’t really spoken about it in days. You haven’t talked to anyone. And believe me I trust you more than anyone and would always believe what you say”.
“Really?” he asked in a croaked voice. “Of course” I replied as I ruffled his hair. “Now enough of all that. I made your favorite food for lunch,” I stated as I began to feed him while he was still

on my lap.
“Does aunty Lyra also think so?” he asked again as he casted a pitiful look at Lyra. “Of course, kiddo” she stated “you didn’t even need to ask”. She stated.
“Yes honey, you should have seen her fighting all the people who dared to accuse you. No one here thinks you’re guilty” I assured as I placed a kiss on his cheek.
“Oh, when will I have my own cute son?” Lyra joked and we all laughed. Halfway through lunch, my phone rang. I was surprised by the caller. It was Cole but I ignored it.
I hadn’t contacted him since the day he called and now wasr really a good time as I wasn’t in my best of moods. The phone rang again. “Who’s it?” Lyra asked from across the table.
“It’s Cole” I answered, still feeding Cisco and she gasped. “Pick the call girl”. I sighed she wouldn’t let me rest until I picked the call. “Cisco honey, mummy has to pick this call. Can you finish the rest on your own?” He nodded and I smiled as I dropped him- on his chair. I walked to a corner in the room and picked the call.
“Freda?”Cole’s worried voice came through the other side of the phone and I was immediately filled with guilt. Cole was a good man. I shouldn’t have ignored him but still I couldn’t drag him into this life I was living. He didn’t deserve it.
“Hello, Cole,” I replied softly. “Freda, I’ve been so worried about you. You promised to call but you never did”. He stated with hurt evident in his voice.
“I’m sorry Cole. It’s just that a lot has happened recently. I’ve been swamped”. I replied. “Freda, where are you? Which city are
you in? You wouldn’t tell me where you are, I’m so worried about. you”.
How could I tell him I’m in a pack of werewolves? Or should I just say ‘oh Cole sorry I’m a werewolf and humans aren’t really allowed in the werewolf pack?’ He’d freak out immediately.
“I can’t, Cole, I’m sorry” I stated slowly. “Why? Why can’t you tell me? Is there something else I don’t know” he asked and my heart skipped a bit.
“Why did you call Cole?” I asked a bit too sternly and I
immediately regretted my tone. “Because I’m worried about you and I want to see you but you are clearly pushing me away”. He replied softly.
“You can’t come and see me Cole, it’s not possible” I stated slowly.” Why can’t I?” He stated almost in a loud tone. “Because you can’t,” I replied frustratedly.
“Then if you don’t want me to see you, I’d just have to use a tracker to locate you, he threatened and I was immediately filled with apprehension.
