Chapter 215
Lucas gazed at the door, and after a while, he took out a cigar from a drawer and lit it.
The sky had completely turned dark, and there was no light in the office except for the sparks of the cigar.
When Vincent pushed open the door and entered, he was shocked by the darkness. He thought that Lucas had left. So he went to turn on the light.
The light illuminated the entire office. Vincent saw Lucas sitting in the office chair. With his head bent, Lucas had an air of coldness.
Vincent‘s hand trembled. “Mr. Thomas, I‘m sorry. I thought you had already left.”
Lucas simply looked up at him but didn‘t say anything. He then left his office with his car key and phone.
Lucas got into the car and drove directly to Jessica‘s apartment.
When he arrived, he stopped the car but did not get out immediately. He just lowered the window and glanced outside.
A blue sports car stopped beside him. The person who got out of the car was Hannah, Jessica‘s friend.
Lucas had checked on Hannah. Like Jessica, Hannah was from a rich family, too. The two of them had known each other for more than twenty years, and they were like sisters.
Hannah got out of the car and went straight into the apartment, not noticing Lucas‘ car at all.
Lucas retracted his gaze and looked down at his phone which was vibrating. He never pressed the answer button.
Give the caller ID “Grandpa“, Lucas didn‘t have to answer the phone to find out what Justin meant to say.
Lucas thought Justin was too assertive. Justin must be thinking that Jessica was a silly girl, silly enough to remarry Lucas after Justin had played those dirty tricks.
What a joke! Maybe Jessica already knew what he had done!
Jessica had just finished dinner when her doorbell rang.
Jessica smiled when she saw Hannah. “Why are you here?”
“The news on the Internet is all nonsense. Why are you not angry?”
Hannah was really mad. The rumors about Jessica‘s private life had gotten on her nerves. Yet hours ago, Hannah even hearä someone say that Jessica and Lucas were going to get married again.
Jessica poured Hannah a glass of water and said, “What‘s to be angry about? It‘s not true anyway!”
Hannah had just finished her meal and was indeed thirsty. She raised her cup and drank more than half the water in one gulp.
With that, Hannah continued in a huff, “This is what makes me most angry! It‘s fake, yet so many people are buying it! You have no idea how many people asked me if it‘s true. They ask me if you are going to remarry that scum Lucas! I‘m so angry!”
Jessica raised her eyebrows and said, “You‘re not just here to vent your emotions, are you?”
Jessica knew Hannah well. Before Jessica woke up, Hannah had already vented her anger in a dozen voice mes ages. Yet still, she rushed over. It must be for something else.
Hannah quickly took out her phone, found a recording, and played it to Jessica.
“What‘s going on? Why are the netizens all talking about Justin visiting the Hall‘s villa? Is Lucas really going to remarry Jessica?”
“Don‘t worry, Trissy. It‘s just a groundless rumor. We spread the news that Jessica‘s private life was ruined. Besides, even if Justin is determined to let Jessica and Lucas get married again, I’ve hired that actor and made that photo at ob gyn, right? If Jessica heard that I might be pregnant, how could she not care about that at all?”
“You are right!”
It was a recording no longer than 20 minutes, yet the voices were clearly recognizable.
Jessica couldn‘t help but click her tongue when she heard this. “Where did you get that from?”
