When he returned to the bedroom, Gloria went to the couch and opened the bag.

It turned out to be a cell phone case with a box of ointment underneath.

Feeling somewhat surprised, Gloria took out the ointment box and found it was for the bruise. She looked a bit startled. At the banquet, she did lift her gown to show him her legs.

But she wondered why would Jordy be so thoughtful.

Gloria left the ointment behind, inserted the SIM card into her new cell phone and headed to her bedroom, where she could call Irene.

The call was put through almost immediately.

“Gloria?”

Gloria’s eyes twitched. “Irene, my phone fell into the water and was damaged. I just got a new phone.”

“What was going on?” asked Irene with concern.

“I don’t know exactly. Someone pushed me into the water while I was chilling out in the open.”

Irene snorted unhappily, “I’d like to see who did that to you! I’ve had my people look into it. It won’t take long. Fortunately, you’ve told me just in time.”

“Most likely, whoever he or she was, they must have found a scapegoat, but there are details we are gonna dig out anyway. I appreciate what you do for me, Irene.”

“Don’t even mention it if you consider me your friend,” Irene said, making a pretence of displeasure.

Gloria giggled, and Irene’s worried voice came again. “How are you feeling anyway? Everything okay?”

“I’m all right, Irene. Thank you for your concern.”

“Well, be careful with whatever you do and try not to be alone while you are out there.”

“Yes.”

She was about to say something to Irene when a cold voice called out to her, “Get out. Time for dinner.”
