Resisting Xavier novel Chapter 3

Maya glared at Xavier's retreating figure pissed off that he was even trying to leave her again, she turned on her heels following him outside.

"What the fuck is wrong with you? One second you are all hot and into me and the next you are damn cold and trying to run away." She asked looking both confused and angry.

"Because I want you so badly and I shouldn't." He whispered more to himself.

Maya frowned as it suddenly occurred to her that she had not thought of the possibility of such an attractive man having someone he was romantically involved with.

She shook her head wondering how in just a day she has been reduced from a woman who was living her dream love life happily dating the love of her life to a woman who was so desperate to get a man that she didn't mind leading a committed lover into the very same sin her ex-boyfriend had committed against her.

"Do you love her?" She whispered when she finally found her voice.

Xavier glanced at her confused at her question.

 "Who?" He asked.

She couldn't meet his gaze suddenly ashamed of her wanton like ungraceful behavior."Your girlfriend." She whispered.

The thought that his unwillingness to get involved with her led her to such a ridiculous assumption did not only amuse him but assured him that she was completely clueless of who he was.

The sound of his manly husky laughter alarmed Maya making her glare at him upset that he found her discomfort amusing.

"Am I some sort of joke to you? Is that why you led me on?" She asked her voice slightly raised even though all she felt like doing was rushing into any available cab with the remnant of her dignity, going home, and wallowing in self-pity and tears.

"I don't have a girlfriend, a fiancee, or a wife," he stated watching her reaction and satisfied with the relief that was written all over her face he continued.

"..... But it would have been preferable if I did have one of those because my identity would have you running the other direction." He added.

"Are you a serial killer or wait a vampire?" She asked daringly taking his big tanned hands into her much smaller ones. "Do you have claws that would suddenly appear if I am not careful?" She asked in mock fright.

"You have a colorful imagination and you have been watching way too many horror movies and thrillers for your good." He murmured smiling fondly at her and turning his back towards her wanting to leave.

"Fine." She whispered still holding onto his hand, he turned, and instead of averting her gaze as always, she met his cold blue piercing eyes.

"If your identity is the problem then I don't even want to know your name, you may even be Lucifer and I would care less because all I want from you is a truckload of sins in one night and I would be in a cathedral if I were looking for a monk."

She prepositioned her eyes still fixated on his, thrilled yet scared at how empty, dark, cold like a pit which was hollow and full of darkness sucking in every chance of illumination his eyes were.

 He smirked wickedly.

"You should have run when I gave you the opportunity, I would brand you and ruin you for any other man after me." He sinfully whispered, a promise in his voice.

With a strong will fueled by the tequila she had taken, she stood on her toes, and sealing her fate she closed the distance between their lips.

He growled letting go of all his restraints and like an awoken lion he consumed what he has been offered so liberally.

Grabbing her and hoisting her around his waist, his mouth descended on her transforming the kiss which was mild and gentle into a possessive duel as he wickedly plundered her mouth seeking to possess her completely. She moaned granting him full access to her body as he fisted his hand around her hair, invading, consuming her with his possessive mind-blowing kiss.

Short of breath, he released her as she took a mouthful of the oxygen she had momentarily been denied of in the haze of lust.
