"Grandma, you shouldn’t even be here today."
James frowned deeply. On such an occasion, Bea could come, but bringing Nichole along was a mistake!
"It's a big day of collaboration between the Burke and Russell families. How could I possibly not be here?"
Bea glanced at the executives of the Russell family present, her superior demeanor making everyone uneasy.
Bea had always been like this, self-proclaimed and living in the glory days of the Burke family, believing that no one dared to disrespect her or cross her family.
But times were changing. Now, in Devonport, the Burke family no longer reigned supreme.
"Bea, don't you think bringing this woman to such an occasion is inappropriate?"
"Ms. Sophie is still standing here. Are you really not taking the Russell family seriously!"
"This isn't a collaboration. It looks more like you're trying to humiliate us!"
The murmurs around them gradually increased. Still, Bea stood there as if unaware of doing anything wrong.
Sophie understood that Bea was trying to intimidate her and the Russell family as well. But it was too indecent. With reporters around, tomorrow's headlines would scream about how the Burke family bullied the Russell family.
Moreover, Bea brought along Nichole, who was pregnant.
Once public opinion sided against them, the Burke family would inevitably be labeled as cold-hearted oppressors.
Such a negative impact would not be easy to dissipate.

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
