Sophie sat across from Elodie, sipping on iced tea. “The tea’s been ready for a while. Looks like you’ve been waiting for me,” she remarked, a playful smile on her lips.

Elodie cut straight to the point, her tone icy. “Enough with the small talk. You’ve set all this up, haven’t you? Burke International has pulled out of their deal with us, and Reeves Entertainment was sold off at a bargain price. Now, everyone knows the Reeves and Burke are no longer linked. As CEO, I’m in hot water, and the family’s bound to force me out.”

Elodie’s eyes narrowed as she studied Sophie. “You’re sharper than I thought, Ms. Sophie. I never expected the pampered heiress of the Russell family to orchestrate such a masterful plan.”

“Ms. Elodie, you give me too much credit,” Sophie replied with a faint smile. “Your reclusive nature and strained family ties made it easy to predict your moves. It’s human nature to protect one’s interests. You caused them financial losses; naturally, they want you to repay. That’s why you turned to me, and now we’re here, calmly discussing our next moves.”

Elodie sighed. “Fine, let’s skip the pleasantries. What do you want?”

“I’m here to make you an offer,” Sophie said, placing a check on the table. “I’m willing to buy that 10% share of Burke International you hold, for the exact amount of your losses.”
