Revenge is best served cold novel Chapter 142

"What kind of bet?"

I looked at Jack with a smile, my tone as calm as ever.

Dad seemed to have already guessed what Jack was thinking. Just as he was about to intervene, Jack cut him off.

"Since we're each backing a different project, let's see which brings in a bigger profit to the company. When the projects are completed, whoever has the lower profit margin must transfer 5% of their shares to the other, no strings attached."

Jack's confidence was overwhelming, so much so that for a moment, I was too amused to mock him.

I let his words hang in the air before finally speaking, my voice laced with undisguised laughter. "You're sure you want to bet against me?"

Ever since my rebirth, I had been racking my brain on how to save the Brown family and how to keep Jack from being manipulated by Elsa. I never expected that he would walk right into his own downfall and offer himself up so willingly.

Jack held his head high, his voice cold and arrogant. "Of course."

Beside him, Elsa's eyes widened in shock. She instinctively grabbed onto Jack's sleeve and shook her head, clearly thinking he was being reckless. But Jack merely patted her shoulder reassuringly and gave her a look of confidence before turning back to me.

"So? Do you dare?"

Mom, who had been watching from the sidelines, looked back and forth between us, her expression filled with worry. Finally, she gritted her teeth and snapped, "This is ridiculous! Your dad has already agreed to invest in both projects. Why must you two make a bet out of this?"

Dad had also intended to step in, but after seeing the determination in both of our eyes, he could only let out a heavy sigh. He took Mom by the arm and led her aside, no longer interfering as I met Jack's challenge head-on.

I nodded eagerly under the watchful eyes of our entire family.
