Revenge is best served cold novel Chapter 160

I didn't get back to the hospital until after midnight as a pile of design drafts weighed me down. When I pushed open the door to the ward, Eric was staring at me intensely.

I froze for a moment, then smiled as I walked over. "What's this? You're awake? I thought you'd be asleep."

Eric looked at me, his voice low and deliberate. "Maybe it's because you weren't here, so I couldn't sleep well."

His eyes were full of sincerity, making my heart skip a beat.

When I didn't respond, his gaze shifted to the folder in my hand. He frowned. "What's this? Even if you love your work, you should rest a little. After everything that happened today, don't put too much pressure on yourself."

I patted my chest reassuringly. "Don't worry, I'm taking a break today. I didn't work."

Eric raised an eyebrow in suspicion. "Then what were you doing for so long? Weren't you working?"

Seeing the concern in his eyes, I hesitated momentarily, then told him everything that had happened tonight.

When I mentioned that I had brought the police and had Jeremiah arrested, Eric's expression turned approving. However, he knew that the Cornell family had plenty of ways to get Jeremiah out.

Our divorce trial was in just seven days, and if Jeremiah went into hiding again, everything would be delayed.

While he was detained, Jeremiah would have no personal freedom and could be called in at any time.

Eric thought for a while, then took out his phone and made a call. "Use whatever means necessary, but make sure Jeremiah can't get out for at least a week."

After hanging up, Eric raised an eyebrow. There was a rare youthful glint in his eyes. "What do you think?"

I looked at him with gratitude and couldn't help but throw my arms around him. In an instant, I suddenly remembered he was still injured and quickly pulled away.

Eric's eyes flashed with a hint of regret, but his smile remained. "So, is this your thank you?"
