Revenge is best served cold novel Chapter 166

Before I could come back to my senses, Levi turned around and left. I couldn't shake the feeling that he had something to say to me. However, Eric was still lying on a stretcher in the ambulance. I had to push my thoughts aside and step into the ambulance.

Eric's wound was torn. Although it wasn't too serious, he was wheeled back into the operating room for re-stitching.

He was merely under local anesthesia this time. So, he was still wide awake when they wheeled him into a ward after the surgery. He was even staring at me.

When Eric saw the concern in my eyes, his lips curled into a grin. "I'll be fine."

I lowered my head and averted my gaze. My voice also became gloomy when I said, "If only you didn't stop Jack from slapping me earlier."

I had given up all hope on Jack. So, I had prepared myself for the possibility that he might hit me for Elsa's sake.

I was deeply moved by Eric's help, but I felt bad that he was injured again because of it.

Eric heard what I said and responded affectionately, "How could I have let that happen? For that matter, I acted out of instinct earlier. There was only one thing in my mind, and that was keeping him from hurting you."

I immediately raised my head, feeling deeply moved. My mind instantly drew a blank when I met his gaze. All of a sudden, something popped into my mind as well.

Back in the courthouse, Eric said that he wanted to marry me.

I responded softly, "Thank you. It's not just for this, though."

Eric was stunned momentarily. Then, his gaze grew more firm as if he had made an important decision in his mind.

"What if I was serious about it?" His voice was gentle, but it sounded thunderous in my ears.

The surprise in my eyes was unmistakable. "What? What are you saying to me?"

Eric cleared his throat when he saw my shocked expression. Then, his expression immediately turned solemn. "Let's get married."
