Revenge is best served cold (Jane and Jeremiah novel Chapter 1892

When Harold saw what was going on, his face turned as dark as a storm cloud.

There, in the cafeteria, Sophie was chatting and laughing with some guy who was clearly trying to charm her. Harold couldn’t stand it anymore and made a beeline for them. Everyone in the cafeteria froze, surprised by Harold’s sudden entrance. He headed straight for Sophie and the guy she was with.

With a loud thud, Harold slammed his book onto the table. Sophie and the guy both jumped, clearly taken aback. They had no clue what Harold was up to.

Harold shot a fierce glare at the guy across from Sophie. Feeling the heat, the guy turned to Sophie and awkwardly asked, “Is this... your friend?”

Sophie, seeing Harold's intense expression, felt her temper flare up. "Harold, what’s your problem?"

Harold ignored her, plopping down next to Sophie like he was marking his territory. “I’m her brother,” he declared.

“Uh, nice to meet you, brother,” the guy stammered, looking pretty shaken by Harold.

Harold cut him off, “I’m not your brother, and you need to back off from my sister. It really bugs me.”

The guy’s face fell even more. “I’m sorry! Really sorry!” he blurted before practically running out of there.

Once he was gone, Harold let out a dismissive snort. “What’s with your taste in friends? Getting cozy with a guy like that?”

Sophie’s face darkened. “What do you know? He’s a friend from high school!”
