Chapter 19 Fearing That I Won’t Drink the Juice
Elsa’s expression turned anxious as she hastily explained, “You’re my sister, so I naturally want your marriage to be a happy one. Now that such a prideful man like Jeremiah has softened up and come to you, why not drop the divorce talk?
“Jeremiah’s dad got so furious over the canceled project that he beat him up. I was the one who helped him with applying medicine, and I can’t bear to see the two of you turning against each other. Jeremiah calls your name even in his dreams. It’s clear that he still has feelings for you.
When I heard those words, my eyes narrowed as a sharp glint flashed across them. Elsa really had a knack for manipulation.
Though she was seemingly dissuading me from divorcing Jeremiah, her words hinted at their
intimacy. She even knew what he had said in his sleep. Had the two rolled in bed together?
I lowered my gaze to hide my emotions. Instead of exposing her, I shook my head coldly. “Even if
he begs on his knees, I’m not getting back together with him. Why don’t you convince him to finalize the divorce since you’re so close to him?”
Elsa looked troubled. “But if you get divorced, what about the baby? The child can’t grow up without a father, right?”
I stroked my flat stomach and sighed with feigned hesitation. “I’m not sure if I’ll keep this baby either…”
As I spoke, I eyed Elsa subtly and caught a flash of calculation in her expression as I would’ve expected. Her eyes darted slightly as she asked, “Are you going to tell Jeremiah about the baby?”
I thought about her words briefly and replied, “I’m considering it, but I’ll wait until I’ve made up my mind.”
With that, I got up. “I’m going to the kitchen to make some juice. Would you like some?”
