Revenge is best served cold (Jane and Jeremiah novel Chapter 239

As Elsa looked at me with hopeful anticipation, I said slowly, "But like I said earlier, it's really not ideal for you to go to the office right now. I'll have someone copy the best case studies from the design department for you, and I'll arrange for two assistants to help you prepare for the competition at home. How does that sound?"

Elsa's expression darkened, and she immediately understood that I still wasn't budging.

Mom stepped forward, taking Elsa's hand with a heartfelt expression. "Look how much your sister cares about you," she said warmly. "She's making sure you don't have to run around and is even hiring assistants to help you."

Elsa forced a laugh, still trying to resist. "But wouldn't that be too much trouble for Jane?"

I shook my head and replied calmly, "Not at all. Don't worry. I've got it all under control. I'll personally cover the cost of hiring assistants. This has nothing to do with the company, so you can just stay home and focus on your designs."

Dad nodded approvingly. "Since your sister has already arranged everything, just follow her plan. With your current mindset, you're not ready to return to the office."

Elsa's face turned pale. She understood that Dad was telling her she had gone too far today.

She bit her lip and looked at Jack, seeking support. But Jack only pulled her into a comforting embrace, saying nothing more.

Realizing that no amount of struggle would change things, Elsa had no choice but to nod obediently.

"I'll listen to Jane, then."

I smiled. "Good. In that case, Eric and I will head back now. I'll have the assistants sent over in the next two days. Don't worry."

Eric gave Elsa a brief, condescending glance before turning away with me.

I knew Elsa wouldn't be sleeping well tonight.
