Revenge is best served cold (Jane and Jeremiah novel Chapter 267

I nodded. "I guess I got something out of it."

Then, I told Eric about the agreement Mr. Simpson and I had. He couldn't resist chuckling before he said, "I'm willing to bet that you'll do just fine for yourself if you ever become a chef."

I uncharacteristically gave him a proud look when I heard what he said. "That's a safe bet."

In my past life, I made stew for Jeremiah countless times. I even took culinary classes for him. At first, I thought that I would serve him for my whole life, yet the skills I acquired were working in my favor now.

We were chatting when I suddenly shot a glance at my phone. I let out a sigh of relief when I saw the date.

Eric gave me a puzzled look. "What's wrong?"

I shook my head. "It's nothing. I thought I hadn't responded to one of the texts, but I must've been mistaken."

Then, I added casually, "I checked the stock market today and noticed new shares from a newly listed foreign company. What's your take on it?"

Eric heard what I said and pondered for a brief moment. "I saw it too. It's a pharmaceutical company, and it's quite promising. With that said, companies like these typically face higher risks. So, I didn't keep an eye on it."

I hesitated for a while before probing around and saying, "But I think this company has a decent future ahead of it. You can try it out if you want to do some stock trading."

The shares might seem unassuming for now, but two countries would be thrown into chaos soon, and countless people would be injured or die.

This pharmaceutical company had some connections to the government, and they would gain insane profits from it. Their share price would skyrocket as well.

At first, I wanted to recommend this to Dad, but it occurred to me that Eric had helped me on numerous occasions. So, I had to repay him in some ways.
