Revenge is best served cold (Jane and Jeremiah novel Chapter 270

I looked at Jeremiah and felt sick. "Is that all you think about?"

There was no need to argue with someone like him. The more I tried to prove my innocence, the more he would think that I was guilty. Hence, I turned around and left.

Jeremiah shouted after me, "You'll regret it sooner or later!"

However, I didn't grace him with another glance despite what he said. He thought that he had dirt on me and could control me. The way I saw it, he was delusional.

I continued to make lunch for Mr. Simpson as usual for the next few days. What was strange was that Jeremiah didn't show up anymore. I thought he had given up on it. To my surprise, he was cooking up a plot to undermine me.

A week came and went. It was afternoon, and I had made arrangements for my work. I was packing up my stuff and was about to head to the Simpson residence when my assistant, Jules Casey, stopped me.

I saw her stuttering and felt puzzled. "What's going on?"

Jules took her phone out and pulled up a social media application on her screen to show me a trending headline.

"The Heiress of the Brown Family Sacrifices Herself for Her Company Project and Lets a 50-Year-Old Scholar Have His Way With Her."

I tapped on it and saw an edited video clip. It showed me going over to the Simpson residence to make lunch for Mr. Simpson every day. Someone captured the moments I walked into the villa with date stamps.

The video also recorded several occasions when Mr. Simpson saw me out the door and chatted with me a little.

I tapped on the comment section and saw that the netizens were condemning both of us.

"Oh my god! A divorcee shacked up with a 50-year-old man. That's just gross."

"I recall that Sebastian has a wife too. I can't believe that someone as old as him is still cheating on his wife."
