Revenge is best served cold (Jane and Jeremiah novel Chapter 274

I looked up to meet Eric's gaze with a smug smile.

"Of course, I know I can handle things on my own. But still, thanks for the help. Otherwise, I might've collapsed from exhaustion."

Eric picked up a piece of food and placed it on my plate. In a slightly regretful tone, he said, "It's just a shame that we haven't caught the real mastermind yet."

I knew exactly who he was referring to—Jeremiah. We both understood that only Jeremiah would go to such lengths.

"It doesn't matter." I shrugged indifferently. "Nothing he does can actually hurt me anymore."

Eric looked slightly surprised, but he also seemed to be giving the idea genuine consideration. After a moment, he nodded. "That's not a bad idea. It could come in handy at the right moment. How do you plan to learn? Do you have any trainers in mind?"

I shook my head, racking my brains for someone reliable who could teach me proper techniques. Then, an image of someone formed in my mind. I glanced at Eric, hesitating slightly before speaking.

He immediately caught my hesitation and narrowed his eyes. "Don't tell me… you're thinking of asking Levi to train you?"

I stared at him in disbelief. "How did you know?"

Noticing the rising fury emanating from him, I quickly clarified. "It's just that he's trained in professional combat. If I ask him, at least the lessons will be more structured. And since I already know him, he'd put in more effort to teach me properly—"

"No!" Eric cut me off immediately, his tone firm and uncompromising.

He cleared his throat awkwardly. "Levi's busy these days. Your schedules might not match up. If you want someone professional, someone who'll teach you properly…"
