Chapter 39 

Dad was still insistent that he should handle the situation. I quickly pushed him back onto the couch and stood up in front of him and Mom. 

“Both of you are not going anywhere. Don’t worry. I’ll handle this myself!” I said firmly. 

Seeing I wouldn’t give in, they reluctantly agreed. They did remind me to keep my temper in check and not escalate things further. 

I acknowledged their advice. Then, my gaze flickered to Elsa who was nearby. A plan started to form in my head. 

Quinton was indeed a man of his word. That very afternoon, he had someone release the news of my infidelity and pregnancy. He released a recording of his conversation with Elsa yesterday. 

In the recorded conversation, Elsa confidently stated that I had been in a relationship with Eric for quite some time and that I was at least a month pregnant, 

I did a quick calculation, and the timeline seemed to match up. Who knew Elsa would remember it more clearly than me? 

In the recording, Elsa sounded like she was afraid of leaving out any important information by giving Quinton every detail of my interactions with Eric, leaving no stone unturned. Clearly, she had not let this information slip out by accident. 

If Jack were to hear this recording, he would probably regret trusting Elsa so much. 

The Cornells hired numerous online trolls, and within half an hour, this news had climbed to the top of the trending topics. The comments section exploded with a flurry of discussion. 

“Didn’t Eric just clarify things not long ago? How is she pregnant with his baby in the blink of an eye?” 

“Eric just issued a statement! He clarified nothing! There was no proof!” 

“ilmph! Jane’s sister was the one who spilled the beans! This time, the news must be true!” 

“Of course, it’s true! If Jane hadn’t crossed the line, the Cornells wouldn’t have gotten involved personally!”
