Chapter 70 Shameless
Some people were just shameless.
I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. Just as I was about to say something, a warm chest suddenly pressed against my back.
I could clearly see the expression on everyone’s faces–prim and shocked.
“I didn’t expect you to have such a strong opinion about my relationship with Jane, Mr. Cornell. Actually, everyone knows you two are on the verge of a divorce. Since that’s the case, and Jane and I have mutual feelings, why can’t we be together?
“Also, you publicly slander Jane while secretly being ambiguous with her half–sister. I remember your scandal with her has been all over the news these past few days. So, Mr. Cornell, what gives you the right to be so arrogant?”
In just a few words, Eric shut Jeremiah up
Jeremiah’s face turned ashen with rage. After gritting his teeth, he immediately switched targets.
“Jane, do you have no shame? Don’t forget that I’m your husband! You’re secretly with another man. How could you do this to me?” His voice thundered with anger, but it was clear that love was absent
His anger wasn’t out of love–it was simply because I had stopped revolving around him and was moving on. He couldn’t stand the idea of losing control
If I still loved him, my fate
e would be worse than last time.
I sneered. I deliberately leaned closer to Eric, my eyes full of mockery.
“Who I’m with is none of your business. Besides, Eric is much better than you. What do you have that compares to him?”
“And I stopped loving you a long time ago, so you can stop showing off your sense of superiority. The only reason I’m here today is to make sure everyone knows that I’d never stoop to be with someone as stupid as you!”
Whispers spread through the room again. Everyone’s gaze toward Jeremiah was full of complexity and disbelief, and even Elsa’s face had gone pale.
Jeremiah cared most about his reputation.
Thad just publicly humiliated him, effectively exposing his disgrace in front of everyone.
As expected, he shook with fury and smashed the wine glass on the floor. “You think you’re some great catch? If you hadn’t begged me to marry you back then, would I have ever looked at you?
“You’ve been kissing up to me for years, and now, you’re walking away for a better option! A woman like you who’s willing to sleep with anyone isn’t worth my time. You’re nothing compared to Elsa!”
Jeremiah yelled at me like a madman.
I wasn’t going to tolerate it, and I slapped him across the face without hesitation. The crisp, loud sound of the slap echoed through the room. Everyone’s eyes went wide in shock
“Did I see that right? Jane actually slapped Jeremiah? When did she get so bold?”
Elsa was stunned and rushed forward to shield Jeremiah.
“Jane, have you lost your mind? How could you hit Jeremiah for an outsider? Everything he’s done has been for your sake. You’re Boing too far!”
Jeremiah stared at me in disbelief while clutching his face. As the shock wore off, his fury burned like fire in his eyes. “Alright, Jane! Did you just hit me for a sidepiece? In that case, don’t even think about leaving this room unharmed today!”
Before I could move, he grabbed a bottle of wine from the table and hurled it at me. I was about to dodge, but Eric was step ahead. He caught the bottle before it could hit me
