“I’m not in a hurry. I can take it anyway,” Betty Starmount said.
“All right then, as you wish,” Xyla Quest replied.
Jeremy Quest helplessly rubbed Betty’s back before gazing at his daughter.
“Betty is very stubborn. I have advised her to reach out to you, but she wouldn’t. She is afraid you might prescribe her with traditional medicine.”
“Well, remember to come to me if you can’t take it anymore,” Xyla said as she looked up at Betty.
Betty immediately nodded, silently sighing in relief.
Meanwhile, Xyla carefully filled everyone’s bowl with porridge.
After breakfast, Betty walked into the kitchen and carried a large bowl of bird’s nest into the dining room, placing it on the table before distributing the contents into several bowls.
“None for me, thanks," Stanley spoke up. "Can't stomach the stuff.”
Betty nodded with a knowing smile. “I know, that’s why I didn’t fill yours.”
After that, she placed a bowl of bird’s nest in front of Xyla, who did not hesitate to pick up her spoon and began eating.
Betty then turned her attention to Jeremy, placing another bowl in front of him.
He smiled. “Thank you, Betty.”
He then picked up his spoon and devoured his portion in large mouthfuls.
Betty sat back down after serving Jeremy, without eating the remaining bird’s nest.
“Aren’t you going to have some? Why do you never eat any of it?” Jeremy asked.
Betty smiled. “No, I don’t like it. You are not feeling well, and Xyla is pregnant. This stuff is good for the baby, so you guys should have more of it.”
