She watched him leave but didn’t run after him. Instead, she sat there fuming without saying a word.

She was anxious right then, not knowing what to do. If she had to be honest, she would admit to feeling remorse for her past actions.

She regretted going down the extreme path. Otherwise, perhaps her relationship with her son wouldn’t have turned out like that.
