Chapter 39

A few minutes later, Meghan straightened her clothes and sat on George’s lap with a coquettish look while sobbing.
She lowered her eyes slightly to hide the disgust in her eyes.
When the Gallagher family discovered that she wasn’t their biological daughter, Evangeline overheard George talking with Bethany about asking her to move out temporarily when they fetched their real daughter. They didn’t want Evangeline to feel awkward or uneasy.
They also intended to put her birth mother in jail.
She felt very insecure at that time. She was afraid that after she moved out, the Gallagher family would gradually ignore her and eventually drive her away.
Therefore, in order to stay, she continued to flatter them, but George still went ahead to search for a house for her elsewhere.
She w
was unwilling to leave.
So, she gave up her young body.
She didn’t want to leave the Gallagher residence and lose her wealth and prominent status. She also desired to inherit the Gallagher family’s assets.
Therefore, she did whatever it took.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to defeat Evangeline, their flesh and blood.
With George’s unconditional support and protection, she soon gained a firm foothold in the Gallagher family,
George didn’t have much feelings for Evangeline.
After all, Evangeline was sent away since she was born.
Therefore, he chose a young body that could satiate his lust over a daughter who had no kinship with him.
Most men, especially middle–aged men, were a little abnormal. Meghan’s young body and the taboo relationship between them made George
unable to resist.
For an added thrill, he even brought Meghan to his room after Bethany fell asleep from the sleeping pill.
“Don’t worry, Meghan. I won’t let them hurt you or drive you away George reassured.
Meghan said morosely. “What if Mom and Sam don’t forgive me and force you to drive me away?”
George sneered. “I’m in charge of this house. If they refuse to listen to me and don’t want to accept you, I will let them move out!” Meghan was finally relieved.
She leaned her head on George’s shoulder and said with a grievance, “Dad, it was Evangeline who made me like this. I dare not go out in the future. You lurve to avenge me…”
A fierce look appeared in George’s eyes. He clenched his teeth and declared, “Even if she didn’t harm you, I won’t be lenient with her. She sold 30% of the company’s shares to Arthur. The company’s in chaos now, and she conned me out of a lot of money and even attacked me. She started the feud!”
At that moment. Evangeline had gone back to Mansion No.1 in Bayside Residence, the place Arthur had loaned her.
Her nerves, which had been teme for seven days, could finally relax.
Evangeline went back to her room, washed herself briefly, and then lay down on the soft bed.
The moderately firm mattress and the soft silk quilt felt as delightful as being in paradise.
During the seven days in the forest, even though she managed to sleep every night, it was far from comfortable on the hard and cold morning when she woke up, her back would ache.

Right now, she was simply lying on the comfy bed. It felt like she had just had a soothing massage, and her body was very comfortable and relaxed.
Just as she was about to close her eyes and go to sleep, her phone suddenly rang
Evangeline didn’t switch on the light. She searched and located her phone, then answered it.
“Who is this?” Her voice was a little hoarse and languid.
A low and deep man’s voice came from the phone. “Evangeline, this is Arthur.”
“Oh, what’s up?” Evangeline asked flatly.
can suppress the Gallagher family”
Arthur said, “Can we talk? I need to discuss how we can
Evangeline said, “Maybe tomorrow. I’m tired today.”
A subtle glee could be heard in Arthur’s voice. “Okay. I’ll come to you tomorrow.”
Evangeline mumbled incoherently, turned off the phone, and closed her eyes.
After a while, she fell asleep.
When she woke up the next day, it was almost noon.
She checked the time and learned that she had slept for 13 hours.
Her stomach was already empty. It started to rumble the moment she woke up.
Evangeline stretched herself. After she freshened up, she dressed in casual clothes and headed downstairs.
Although she had slept for 13 hours, she still felt physically exhausted. Her back and shoulder blades were still sore.
Evangeline got down on all fours and crawled downstairs using her hands and feet.
She didn’t stop until she reached the living room.
Suddenly, she felt something was amiss.
She sensed a strong feeling of being watched!
Evangeline immediately looked up and met a pair of deep and complicated eyes.
“Evangeline, are you… all right?” The man gazed at her with a mix of emotions and spoke in a hushed tone.
The man was dressed in black casual pants and a black T–shirt. His call and robust physique was concealed beneath the attire.
His hair was neatly combed back, which unveiled a handsome face as flawless as a piece of art.
It was Arthur.
Arthur’s face remained composed, yet his eyes revealed a mix of complex emotions.
A young man in a suit and gold–rimmed glasses was sitting beside Arthur.
He was also very handsome.
The man gazed at Evangeline in astonishment, as if his entire perspective had been greatly shaken
Evangeline was dumbfounded
She stood up calmly and clapped her hands.
“The hygiene in the house is quite good.
I climb downstairs, but my palms are still clean; she remarked silently.
-Evangeline sat down across them and looked at Arthur coldly. “Mr. Ferdinand, why are you here?”

The corner of Arthur’s mouth twitched, and he reminded her, “I called you last night. We’re supposed to meet today”
Only then did Evangeline remember that she had spoken with Arthur on the phone last night and agreed to meet him today.
But she didn’t expect that he would enter straight into the mansion.
Evangeline sat down across from them, her tone and gaze stern as she warned Arthur, “Mr. Ferdinand, I hope you understand something. You’ve lent me this mansion, and I’m the owner until I return it. Even though you own the house, you must seek my permission before entering. For our partnership’s sake, I’ll overlook it this time. But not again”
Arthur lowered his head and apologized. “I’m sorry for my thoughtlessness. I will ask for your permission in advance before coming next time.”
Evangeline replied, “I’ll let it go this time. Let’s focus on our business.”
Arthur suggested, “Take your time. You must be hungry after a night’s sleep. Let’s get you something to eat.”
Evangeline nodded and didn’t refuse. She was really hungry.
Arthur stood up and walked to the kitchen.
Finnegan Jennings was shocked and looked at Arthur in disbelief.
Is this still the decisive, indifferent, and ruthless Arthur I know!
He was being bossed around by a woman, and she even scolded him–the supposed owner of the house–for intruding. How could Arthur remain so composed and even offer an apology?
“Oh, my goodness!
“I must have been hallucinating! Finnegan thought
In that moment, Evangeline lifted her gaze and regarded Finnegan with indifference. “Don’t just stand there. Cut a plate of fruit for me. I’m in the mood for cold watermelon. As you’ve come with Arthur, consider yourself a guest. Be mindful of your position and don’t overlook the homeowner.
