Chapter 54
Evangeline swiftly read about the latest developments and how the general public was reacting to everything.
‘Edward… she thought..
It was hard for Evangeline not to suspect Edward because he, along with Superb Entertainment, stood to gain the most from this tragedy.
Moreover, Pamela didn’t look like someone who was done with life when she leaped off the building
Rather, she seemed to be left with no choice.
Evangeline also caught on to another issue.
Pamela stabbing her with a knife was just a cover.
That time, Pamela’s knife did not touch her at all. It was simply for show.
From the beginning, Pamela planned to frame Evangeline by fabricating a conflict before taking her own life.
Regardless of the outcome of the case, internet users perceived Evangeline as a murderer from the moment the incident occurred.
Only after she became a murderer was Edward able to achieve a good reputation. It gave way for him to present himself as a humble and virtuous man who came to atone for his younger sister’s sins
Had Evangeline died, Edward would not have been able to regain his positive image. Now, he had the opportunity to capitalize on the public’s sentiment and turn things around.
Despite the lack of evidence, Evangeline subconsciously suspected Edward.
He was the cruelest member of the Gallagher family.
Using
g other people’s lives to turn the tables in his favor was nothing out of the ordinary for him
After all, he hurt his biological younger sister without batting an eye.
Evangeline immediately contacted Arthur and asked him to find out why Pamela went to the hotel that day.
She wanted to know if Pamela had followed her or if they had met by chance when Pamela went there for a meal.
That was important for Evangeline.
When she discovered this, she was able to determine whether or not Pamela had intended to frame her.
Arthur was very efficient
He called her back in less than half an hour,
Tve asked someone to look into it Pamela went in less than five minutes after we arrived. When the hotel receptionist greeted her, she said that she desperately needed to use the restroom. The receptionist took her to the first–floor restroom. After that, she went to the eighteenth floor on her own. But, because the entire hotel’s surveillance cameras had been lacked, there was no record of how she got upstairs.”
Arthur paused for a moment and continued, “She didn’t ask the receptionist about your whereabouts, but she could pinpoint the floor you were al Obviously, she came well–prepared. She was also quite familiar with Steven and me, so she knew exactly where our reserved private room was and could get to it. But, Pamela can’t possibly know of all that information herself.”
He added, “Besides, Steven also sent someone to investigate the waitress who splashed you with red wine today. He got some information from her —the confessed that someone provided her with a sum of money and told her to pretend to accidentally spill something on you to make you leave the room alone halfway through. But, she couldn’t recall who it was he just suddenly appeared in the hotel. She couldn’t identify the guy as he was wearing a mask and hat”
Arthur went on, “Hugo also sent people to look into the public opinion on the Internet. He learned that Edward had hired lots of internet trolls to skew the public’s perception. Actually, a lot of people initially had a neutral stance and wanted to wait for the police investigation results. But those trolls insulted the people who believed you, leaving them with no choice but to delete their posts. The few supportive comments that weren’t deleted have also been drowned out by the trolls‘ posts.
Arthur’s voice became lower as he said, “Those paid trolls who swayed the public opinion acted at a good time–like they were poised for action. Less than three minutes after the incident took place, they had already gained the lead in public opinion. If Edward only learned the news after the incident, he would have missed his chance to sway public opinion by hiring trolls to improve his image. It’s as if he hired them ahead of time and was just waiting for the news to break so he could dispatch them immediately”
Evangeline scoffed and said, “That’s him indeed.”
Arthur sighed. “Although we can guess it was him, we don’t have conclusive evidence to prove that he did it.”
Evangeline sneered and replied, “He’s cunning. It’s normal for him not to reveal himself. You don’t need to investigate this matter any further since it won’t yield any results”
Arthur inquired, “Could it be that you’re going to let him go?”
He mused, “It’s not like her at all.”
Evangeline responded with a faint smile, “I asked you to stop, but that doesn’t mean I’m letting him go.”
Arthur asked in confusion, “What’s your plan!”
Evangeline said. Tl kill him!”
Arthur was rendered speechless.
Evangeline hung up the phone directly.
Arthur called again, but she did not answer.
At night, Evangeline dressed in black sportswear, a black baseball cap, and a mask before heading out.
An hour later, Evangeline climbed over the wall to enter the Gallagher residence.
She climbed directly into Edward’s bedroom, avoiding the surveillance cameras outside the gate.
It was already ten o’clock in the evening, and Edward hadn’t arrived home yet.
Evangeline approached the door and listened for movement in the other rooms outside the bedroom.
There was no one out there.
She quietly opened the door and went out.
It was very quict.
The Gallagher family could not have gone to bed this early. It was entirely possible that they were not at home.
Evangeline thought, ‘It’s quite normal since Jasper’s still in the hospital. Plus, today’s his birthday, so they may have gone to see him. But, what’s strange is that I don’t hear any of the housekeeper’s voices downstairs. Are they not here either!‘
Evangeline was about to walk back to Edward’s room and wait for him when she heard unusual noises coming from the third
story.
George and
Bethany’s bedroom was on the third floor–so was George’s study. The other family members bedrooms were on the second floor. However, Evangeline felt the sound was a little str
was a little strange.
It was a woman’s loud moan, but, it didn’t sound like Bethany.
Evangeline’s eyes flickered slightly, and she walked upstairs.
When she reached the third floor, she was certain the voice was coming from the study.
Evangeline mused, “The voice sounds a little intriguing…
Although Evangeline had never made love before, she could tell from the voice since she had watched similar videos.
Evangeline squinted thoughtfully.

Chapter 54
She pondered, ‘It doesn’t sound like it’s coming from a phone or computer. Does George have such an interest? Having an affair with a mistress at home! It appears that all of the housekeepers are absent, which could be because George purposefully sent them away in search of excitement.”
Evangeline’s interest was piqued..
She entered a room adjacent to the study and climbed out the window. She scaled the wall with ease using the outside windowsill, pipes, and air conditioner external unit to reach the study window.
The study window was partially closed, which meant that it was not locked.
Evangeline quietly opened the window slightly
She made a slight noise, but it wasn’t loud. Instead, the moan of the woman inside entirely drowned it out, and the people inside paid no attention to it.
After the window was opened, she lifted a comer of the curtain and glanced inside.
When Evangeline saw the scene inside, she was
as stunned for a few seconds, a hint of surprise in her eyes.
She knew what was going on inside before she saw it because of the sounds.
However, she hadn’t anticipated Meghan to be the one having an affair with George.
Evangeline cursed internally, This family is rotten to the core. They disgust me
She took her phone out of her pocket and recorded a high–definition video
Then, she muted all of the functions on her phone.
After that, she opened Instagram, removed Edward, Jasper, Samson, and Bethany from her blacklist, and sent them a follow request again.
Soon after, all of them approved her request.
Edward sent her a message: [Evangeline! Aren’t you in the police station! How can you still use your phone!]
Jasper texted: [Evangeline, have you forgiven me!]
Samson asked: [Evangeline, did you push Pamela off the building? You’re way too impulsive. Hitting people is still forgivable. How can you murder someone?]
Bethany texted: [You bastard! Jas had to get an amputation because of you. Just go to hell! Eddie said you got arrested by the police. How are you able to reach me! Did you break out of prison?]
Evangeline ignored their messages and directly started a group chat with them.
Edward, Jasper, and Samson joined the group chat. Perplexed by her actions, they all sent messages containing question marks.
Meanwhile, Bethany wrote: [What the hell are you doing, you ingrate! Go back to the police station and turn yourself in. Don’t think you can get away!!
Evangeline sent out a group video call invitation, asking all four of them to join.
