Chapter 70 

Edward admired the despairing expressions on Meghan’s and George’s faces for a moment. 

Then, he put away his phone 

After that, he picked up the dagger he had pur aside. 

He said. “You two haven’t eaten anything for two days. You must be hungry, right?” 

They had been starving ages ago, 

But they felt fear and despair more than anything. So, even if they were hungry, they dared not make a sound. 

Now that Edward was taking the initiative to mention it, Meghan and George subconsciously swallowed. 

“Would you like to eat something“” Edward asked with a half–smile. 

Meghan said hurriedly, Tm starving. Eddie. Please give me something to eat. I’m already injured, so If I don’t eat anything now, I won’t be able to hold out much longer 

She even pitifully shed some tears, hoping to arouse his sympathy 

Edward nodded agreeably, saying, “Alright. Since you asked hrit, you get to eat first” 

Meghan cried in joy. “Thank you, Eddie. I swear I won’t forget your kindness to mel” 

She thought that Edward wouldn’t want to kill them 

If he wanted to do it, he would have done it already. He wouldn’t have gone through the trouble of getting them out.

Meghan’s whole body was trembling, and her face turned pale as paper. She fearfully looked at Edward, who had a calm expression on his face. 

She thought, “No.. I don’t want to eat anymore!‘ 

Edward’s eyes turned cold as he said, “I wasted so much time cutting it for you, but you’re not going to ear it?” 

“Boo–hoo.” Meghan’s mouth was closed as she let out a pained cry. She looked at him pleadingly, hoping that he could

Ten days later, George and Meghan were still alive.

The only thing George and Meghan felt was fear toward Edward. They had no other desires. 

Chuckling, Edward said, “You won’t be alive for long. I guess I’ll tell you in person while you’re still alive”

Edward looked at George and asked, “Do you know why a housekeeper was capable of secretly switching out the real daughter of the Gallagher family?* 

George kept trembling and didn’t answer. 

Edward didn’t need an answer, anyway. He continued, “Because it was an operation instructed by Grandpa Grandpa covered for her so that she could deceive everyone and secretly swapped Evangeline with Meghan.” 

George’s eyes suddenly widened, 

He thought, ‘How is that possible? Why would he do that?

George widened his eyes, which were full of shock and disbelief. 

“What… How is that possible?” George painstakingly asked. 

He thought, How could Meghan be my sister? If Meghan is my sister, then we would’ve…. 

George panted heavily as his face turned pale. 

He thought. No… I shouldn’t be like this… How can I die an honorable death after this?” 

“It can’t be true… You’re lying. It’s not true… Meghan also said with difficulty. 

She couldn’t accept the truth either. 

Edward said, “Now that things have come to this point, why would I even lie to you? Do you know why Grandpa gave so many shares to Evangeline? That’s because Evangeline knows about this secret. Edward’s grandfather didn’t die of natural causes

Six months after Evangeline returned home, Edward’s grandfather suddenly ended his own life by carbon monoxide poisoning. Everyone in the family thought that it was an accident. 

But Edward knew that his grandfather had ended his own life to silence Evangeline. 

After all, he accidentally overheard the conversation between Evangeline and his grandfather. 

Back then, his grandfather got down on his knees and pleaded with Evangeline. Evangeline had requested that the shares in his hand be transferred to her and that he should be dead within three days.
