"Alicia, tomorrow's Saturday—how about we go shopping together?" Melanie asked, practically bouncing with excitement.
Alicia was just about to agree when Tyrone answered for her. "She can't. She has plans tomorrow."
Melanie's face fell. "Oh… okay."
"And remember, it's Aunt Alicia," Tyrone reminded her, his tone firm. Melanie was always a bit rebellious, never quite grasping the concept of respecting her elders.
Alicia shot Tyrone a look. When he got serious like this… he could be a little intimidating.
But he was her benefactor, after all. As long as their one-year contract marriage lasted—and for thirty million dollars—she would do her part, no matter how odd things got.
That evening, Tyrone took both Alicia and Melanie out to a fantastic restaurant. The food was incredible, and by the time they finished, both women were thoroughly satisfied, their stomachs pleasantly full. After dinner, he treated them to a movie.
Inside the theater, Tyrone held Alicia's hand the entire time. She sat stiffly, her back straight with nerves. By the end of the film, she hadn't caught a single line of dialogue—she could only hear the thumping of her own heart.
Honestly, who insisted on holding hands through an entire movie?
Well… if this was one of Tyrone's quirks, she'd just go along with it.
When they left the theater, Tyrone bought ice cream cones for both Alicia and Melanie.
Melanie suddenly felt like she was an awkward third wheel.
She watched Tyrone carefully. It really seemed like her uncle had fallen for Alicia… After all, there was no one else around. If he was just putting on an act, there'd be no need to keep it up now.
"Ready to go home?" Tyrone asked Alicia, his eyes soft as he watched her lick her ice cream.
Alicia nodded obediently.
Tyrone smiled, taking her hand as they stepped into the elevator.
Melanie was still outside when Tyrone reached over to close the elevator doors—nearly catching Melanie in the gap.
She stared in shock, almost dropping her ice cream.
