Alicia found it strange, too. Clayton was always cold and aloof, acting as if no one else mattered. Yet today, not only had he apologized, he’d actually invited her out to dinner. Something was definitely off.

“Want to grab dinner with us tonight? Got any plans?” Alicia shot Winnie a wink.

Winnie hesitated. “He invited you, not me. Wouldn’t it be weird if I tagged along?”

“It’d be even weirder if I went alone with him,” Alicia grinned, grabbing Winnie’s hand. “You know how people love to gossip—one dinner and suddenly there are crazy rumors. Besides, you like handsome guys, right? Clayton’s got the looks, and he’s the White family’s adopted son. Reginald only trusts him with the important work at White Corporation, and Tyrone says he’s a genius.”

Winnie narrowed her eyes, then waved dismissively. “Forget it. Guys like him? Way out of my league. Honestly, I’ve never met a man who won’t even spare me a glance. Tyrone only paid attention to me because you looked at me for a second.”

Alicia burst out laughing. “Come on, you’re gorgeous. If he doesn’t notice, that’s his problem. Tyrone told me Clayton’s never even dated—no girlfriends, no rumors, nothing. Maybe he’s into men.”

Winnie’s eyes widened in mock realization. “That must be it! People say men that clean-cut usually swing the other way.”

Meanwhile, in a car across town, Clayton kept sneezing as he watched Alicia through the window and wondered how to make a good impression at dinner.

He had no idea he’d already been classified as “probably likes men.”

The driver glanced back at him and sighed. “Mr. Clayton, Miss Nicole sent a list… She wants you to pick up the latest designer bag, some new arrivals from these brands, pastries from the artisan bakery on the south side, and… more jewelry from these shops.”

He looked apologetic. Nicole never missed a chance to treat Clayton like her personal shopper, and he never refused her.

Clayton took the list, a faint smirk playing at his lips. “And how did she put it this time?”
