Jade's face darkened instantly, her expression turning downright ugly. "I heard Serena's back in Harboridge for rehab. I figured I'd stop by and check on her since I'll be in the area."

Tyrone's expression was grim. He ignored Jade completely, barely sparing Alicia a glance before turning on his heel and heading into the living room.

"You really think just because you say something, he'll take your side? Serena is his weak spot—don't even think about touching her." Jade's gaze was cold and threatening as she stared down Alicia.

Alicia's heart sank a little. As expected, Serena was Tyrone's untouchable subject…

"Tyrone is my boss. No matter where you take me or what you have me do, I'll report everything to him honestly." Alicia's tone was serious, her eyes steady as she answered Jade.

Jade gritted her teeth. "Are you threatening me?"

Alicia shook her head. "If that's how you want to see it, then so be it."

"Alicia, don't forget what I said. Within a month, he's going to ask for a divorce. My sister Nicole has already been found. No matter how much Tyrone loves Serena, for the sake of the Lynch family's reputation, he'll have to keep her hidden. But Nicole—my sister—is the true heiress of the White family. No one can break off her engagement to Tyrone. He has to marry her."

With that, Jade swept past Alicia and disappeared into the living room.

Alicia stood in the doorway for a moment, lost in thought.

Even if Nicole had been found, and Tyrone wanted a divorce, it would be Tyrone breaking the agreement. As long as she wasn't the one paying the penalty, that was fine by her.

She had barely stepped into the living room when someone suddenly grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her aside, out of sight. "Don't believe a single word that woman says. Not one. She's been a liar since she was a kid."

Tyrone had her trapped against the wall, keeping his voice low as he cautioned her.

They were standing far too close; his hand was still on her arm. The whole thing felt…intimate. Alicia's heart thudded a little faster, and she whispered nervously, "People might see us… It's not really appropriate."

"You're my wife. What's there to be afraid of?" Tyrone was still angry. "Why were you running around after her? Didn't you see me calling you?"

Alicia dropped her gaze and remained silent.

Of course she'd seen his call. She just hadn't wanted to answer.

"Serena is Melanie's mother." Tyrone said it out of the blue, bringing up Serena himself.
