Chapter 357 Enough Talk
The burly man at the front of the group barked crude insults at Maren.
She didn’t react with anger–her mind was already made up about how this would end.
She intended to deal with them all once the rest of the Wolf Pack showed up, turning the moment into a
chance to establish her dominance before the crowd.
“Maren, I heard the Wolf Pack’s a major gang around here. Are you sure you can take care of them?” Agate asked in a low voice as she stepped closer.
Though she had faith in Maren’s strength, the gang’s large numbers were concerning. If they all showed up, it
could get out of hand.
“I’ve got it under control. No one’s going to mess with you again,” Maren said, giving her shoulder a light pat.
The gesture and tone immediately settled Agate’s nerves.
If Maren said it was settled, then it was.
The men groaning on the ground caught wind of their exchange and let out bitter laughs at Maren’s bold words.
They had already called for reinforcements, and with their base just ten minutes away, backup would be
arriving soon.
The onlookers were just as skeptical. Maren’s poise didn’t match the tension in the air.
Yet as she stood there, tapping on her phone casually, something about her composure made them linger. Doubtful or not, they were curious to see what would unfold.
At that moment, Maren sent a message to Shawn.
“No big deal, it’s just the Wolf Pack. I’ll contact their boss,” Shawn responded almost instantly.
He had already authorized Maren to oversee four cities in Criala, including Plalo.
A matter this trivial wasn’t something he’d deny, especially not if it meant staying on her good side.
After she turned down his dinner invite, he realized she didn’t care for him. And why would she? They were on opposite sides. But if he wanted any chance of pulling her closer–of claiming her, not just as an ally but as his possession–he had to start by softening her hostility.
With Shawn’s promise, Maren knew she wouldn’t need to get involved.
She simply had to wait and watch.
Ten minutes later, a heavy truck rolled up, packed with men. It screeched to a stop.
Dozens of gang members piled out, brandishing iron rods and knives, their expressions hardened and wild.

“Harvey, I’m on the phons You take the lead Don’t forget, we’re the Wolf Pack. Anyone picking a fight with us. is seking to dist” Lyman Carter, the gang’s leader, called out from inside.
“No problem, Lyman! I’ve heard she’s easy on the eyes. Once I’m through, I’ll bring her straight to you,” Harvey answered with a grin. He was the group’s second in command.
“Perfect We’ll enjoy her together!” Lyman roared with laughter.
Then Harvey stepped down from the truck.
The brothers‘ voices boomed across the area, loud and unfiltered, as was common in their turf–everyone nearby heard every word, including Maren.
The crowd looked on with grim expressions.
“What a shame. She’s gorgeous. Who knows what they’ll do to her?”
“Shh! Keep your voice down unless you’ve got a death wish.”
The whispers were hushed and filled with fear as the onlookers backed away.
“Who had the guts to lay a hand on my men?” Harvey barked out as he and his crew pushed through the crowd, eyes locking onto the battered men sprawled across the ground.
“No one’s dared stir up trouble here in years,” he muttered, the sight gnawing at his pride. “Interesting.”
