The second Finley and his men bolted, Leroy collapsed to the ground and vomited stately, ging as he emptied his stomach.

Christina’s throat tightened, and no words came out. She could not even bear to imagine the consequences if Douglas had not arrived in time.

Hugging her legs, still clad in her torn dress, she broke down, sobbing uncontrollably.
