Georgia froze for a moment, then turned her body away from Manfred’s sight and explained softly, “Ms. Wilson woke up before you. She had eaten porridge and was not in any serious condition.”
Hearing that she was fine, and seeing her sitting there, though her face was still pale, he could see that she was in a better state of mind than the night before when she had a high fever.
Manfred pulled his pale thin lips which were dry, “Good.”
“Mr. Manfred, have some water.”
He did not move. He only looked at Charlotte.
Charlotte was also looking at him. She had just wanted to see if he was ok, but his hot eyes made her embarrassed. Georgia stood in front of him holding a glass of water, but he did not take it but stared at her.
“Ahem......” Charlotte coughed lightly, and then lifted the quilt and got out of bed.
She went to Georgia. With a smile, Georgia gave her the glass. Charlotte looked at her and saw her kind eyes. Georgia got up and said, “I go to buy something. I will come back soon.”
With that, she walked off with a brisk step in her high heels.
After Georgia left, Manfred gave a smile. His secretary always satisfied him.
“Manfred, drink some water.” Charlotte gave him the water and motioned for him to drink.
Manfred was silent. He did not take the glass but quietly looked at her.
“Are you not thirsty?” Charlotte was at a loss, holding the glass.
“I have no strength.” Said Manfred.
Charlotte did not understand what he meant at first. Did Manfred mean he had no strength to take the glass and needed her to feed him water?
Charlotte blushed all of a sudden. Under the gaze of Manfred, she was embarrassed and nervously put the glass on the table.
Noticing that, Manfred’s eyes became dim and then his lips moved, but he said nothing.
The atmosphere in the ward was so awkward that it was impossible for Charlotte to take the initiative to feed him with water because of her relationship with him. At most, she put the cup in front of him and let him drink by himself.
“Shall I get the nurse?”
Charlotte seemed to grasp a straw, turned around and wanted to go out to get the nurse. Manfred was helpless about that. She intended to get the nurse to help him with drinking water.
“Come back.” Cried he feebly.
She stopped in her steps and turned to him biting her lower lip.
She looked pathetic, as if Manfred made a difficult request, but he knew that it was difficult for her.
Thinking of this, Manfred lightly smiled, “It was just a joke.”
“I...”
“It was only a joke, I won’t do it now...I’m sorry.”
Charlotte looked up at him. Seeing his apology, she felt embarrassed and dropped her eyes. “I’m the one who should say sorry. You had saved me and done a lot for me, but I…”
She wouldn’t even feed him a glass of water.
But she really could not do that!
