Meryl had breakfast alone at home. Just as she finished cleaning up, her phone rang. 

It was Yancey. 

“Something’s happened to Anne!” he said, his voice hurried. 

Meryl’s heart raced. “What’s wrong?” 

“It’s complicated. Just get to the hospital now! She might be going into labor!” Yancey urged, panic evident in his tone. 

In the background, Meryl could faintly hear Dante calling for an ambulance. 

Meryl’s heart sank. She realized Anne had gone to meet Dante. 

How serious could it be for them to call an ambulance? 

She quickly slipped on her shoes and grabbed the hospital bag. Yancey had packed earlier. 

When Meryl arrived at the hospital, Anne was already in the delivery room.
