Ethan couldn’t hear anything.

He stared at the woman in the coffin, a sense of unreality washing over him.

The woman in the coffin was bruised and battered, her skin pale and bloated
from days in the water.

He ripped open the coffin lid, desperate to find some proof, some sign that it
wasn’t her.

He reached for her hand, his own trembling uncontrollably.“Amelia, please,
wake up. This isn’t funny.” His voice cracked.
The woman in the coffin remained still.
The director spoke gently.“Mr. Carter, please accept our condolences. We
need you to sign the certificate so we can lay her to rest.”
“Get out!” Ethan roared, shoving the man away.“She’s not dead! She’s just

No. It couldn’t be true.
Amelia loved him. She wouldn’t leave him.
The director handed him Amelia’s phone. “This was found at the scene.
Perhaps you should see this.”

Numbly, Ethan took the phone. The screen filled with explicit photos and
videos of him and Chloe.
His blood ran cold.
