Ethan’s fever raged for days. He raved about Amelia, his voice filled with

anguish.

Chloe sat beside him, numb, watching him. Her love for him had long since

turned to resentment. The miscarriage, the scandal, the coma, the loss of her

child… she blamed him for everything.

Yet, she knew she couldn’t leave him. He was her lifeline. She had no skills,

no prospects. No one would hire a disgraced social media influencer. All she had

left was him.

She pressed the call button.

Doctors rushed in, tending to Ethan. Late that night, his fever broke. He

woke up,

his gaze settling on Chloe.

All the anger, the hatred, had vanished, replaced by a weary resignation.

They’d both made mistakes. They’d both wronged Amelia.

He looked at her for a long moment, then spoke. “Let’s get a divorce.”

Chloe’s face paled. She shook her head frantically.“No! I won’t divorce you!”

She fell to her knees, tears streaming down her face, her voice

pleading. “Ethan, please don’t leave me. Tell me what I did wrong. I’ll change, I

Ethan closed his eyes, his voice tired. “We both made mistakes. Let’s just… 

end this.” 

Chloe continued to sob and plead, refusing to let go. 

He continued as if he hadn’t heard her.“I’ll give you the house, and five 

million dollars. Let’s just… move on.”

Before Chloe could respond, Ethan’s mother burst into the room, slapping
