asthma, my allergy to pollen. It wasn’t an accident. It was a deliberate, malicious
act. A wave of nausea washed over me. The report confirmed the darkest
whispers in my heart; she wanted me gone. She almost succeeded.
The recovered data from my phone was the final nail in the coffin. My own
words, spoken as I left the Lake House that day, flashed before

face.
Ethan’s reaction was immediate. He slammed the phone onto Hannah, his
voice thick with rage.“How dare you speak to her like that? Do you think, for one

calmness.“Get rid of her things. And have her family come collect her.” His tone
left no room for argument.

as they began hauling Hannah’s belongings out of the house.
Hannah crumpled to the floor, her eyes vacant, the fight gone out of her. “No…

possessions as they were unceremoniously dumped outside. She’d only tasted a few days of luxury, a fleeting glimpse into the life she so desperately coveted.
