I didn’t know what Grant had been thinking. After our honeymoon, we
returned to Austin,
School started in early September, Jake stood at the entrance, and I was tying
atie for me. He looked at me deeply,
“Why so formal? Casual is fine.” I couldn’t understand him.
He disagreed, pointing to his cheek. I kissed his cheek. He smiled, pleased.
“How else am I supposed to show off my amazing wife?”
I wanted to say something but let it go, pushing him to the door.““Go! Don’t
be late.”
“Come on, I’m a great professor. They’re lucky to have me! And I graduated
here with honors.” He boasted, then added, “I’m excellent!”
I rolled my eyes. “You’re great. Now go.”
He went to school happily. There were rumors that he was always showing
off his wedding ring.
“Why so formal? My wife likes it.”

“You mean my lunch? My wife made it.”

I didn’t know about that. I was considering getting a new job when someone
knocked on the door. It was a delivery.
Inside was a wedding invitation. At the top were two names: Grant and
Wanda,
They got together. But why would they send me the invitation? To show off?
He raised it. “They invited us. Let’s go.” He wanted to know what Grant
meant.
The wedding was next month. It was rushed but still well–prepared.
I never thought I would go to Dallas with Jake. Many guests knew that I used
to be with Grant, and they whispered while seeing me and Jake.
“Amazing. I thought Rosie would be Grant’s wife.”
