Serenity and Zachary York novel Chapter 3257

Dylan grumbled to himself. Why did Grandma May and Imogen both say he had better not regret it? What did he have to regret? Could he not know who he really liked, what he really wanted?

He was no longer a three-year-old kid. He was almost thirty and very much had a mature mind. He would not do anything he would regret. Imogen said something so similar to what Grandma May said, it was no wonder that she picked Imogen.

“Ms. Doyle, I’ve never done anything I’ve come to regret. Even if I didn’t make the right choice, I would face it openly without regrets.”

Imogen laughed. “Alright, I know. Since there’s no way you’ll fall for me, I won’t force it. It’s not like I’m unmarriageable. Why should I cling to you? I’d end up lowering my worth instead.”

She had also been pampered and raised as the apple of her family’s eye. It was not like no one wanted her. The Doyles were a distinguished family in Huntington too. She had both pedigree and status. As long as she wanted to get married, there would be many men lining up for her. There was no need for her to cling to a man who did not feel anything for her.

“Although we can’t be husband and wife, Ms. Doyle, we can still be business partners. I really don’t hate you. Serenity gets along with you too. You can visit Wiltspoon when you’re free as her friend.”

Imogen paused and looked at him for a moment before continuing to walk.

Staring at the city lights in the distance, she said, “My family business is based in Huntington, while yours in Wiltspoon. Although we both have branches in all the big cities, I don’t think it’s quite possible for us to be business partners. We’re rivals in some industries too. Although there are no forever enemies in the business world, there are no forever friends either. I don’t think the chances of us working together are high.

“Plus, I liked you. Yet you want to work with me and make us meet often? I’m worried I won’t be able to resist falling for you again and pursuing you. Wouldn’t that be like shooting myself in the foot twice? I don’t want to do that, Dylan. Serenity and I might keep in contact, but that’s our business. It has nothing to do with you. I won’t disturb you if I come to Wiltspoon in the future, so don’t worry.”
